The Rev. Dr. Higginbotham died Tuesday night at the Baptist Home after a long illness. He was 82.

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Mona Pratt Higginbotham, 76, of Mansfield, formerly of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Columbus, Ohio, died Oct. 4, 1997, in Southwood Community Hospital, Norfolk, after a short illness.
She was retired vice president of Ohio Credit Union League, Columbus, a Protestant, a graduate of the National Business College, Roanoke, Va., and a member of the White Shrine, Columbus.
Surviving: husband, Charles; son, Charles Pratt Higginbotham of San Diego; daughter, Suzanne Wemlinger of Mansfield; one granddaughter.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, with the Rev. William Skeldon officiating. There will be no visitation. LONGMEADOW - Lee J. Higginbotham II, 38, of this town, was fatally injured
Saturday in a Suffield, Conn., automobile accident. Police said the car he was
traveling struck a tree on Thrall Avenue on Saturday evening. Robert B. Kennedy,
also of Longmeadow, was also killed in accident, police said. Born in
Springfield, he lived in Longmeadow for most of his life and was a 1980 graduate
of Longmeadow High School. He also attended Springfield Community Technical
College. He leaves his mother, Alynda (Morton) Cowles of Longmeadow; his father
and stepmother, Lee and Hilda Higginbotham of Stafford, Conn.; a brother,
Victor, and sister, Kimberly Cool, both of Longmeadow; and his grandparents,
Frances Morton of Longmeadow, Ruth Messer of Enfield, Conn., and Frank
Higginbotham of Branchville, N.J. A memorial service will be held Saturday
morning at St. David's Episcopal Church in the Feeding Hills section of Agawam.

Arthur R. Higginbottom (1909-2007) MA/MD
EASTON, Md. - Arthur R. Higginbottom, formerly of Millbury, died on Nov.
30, 2006, in Easton. Art was 97 years old.
He was the son of the late Harry and Florence Higginbottom of Bucks Village.
During World War II, Arthur served with the Navy as a flight instructor. After
completing his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts at Clark University, Arthur
was involved in education for 41 years, both in Millbury and in Easton.
He cherished his family and is survived by four children, nine grandchildren,
and his sister, Ruth Ellen Higginbottom of South Yarmouth.

In Taunton, January 3, 2008 Virginia Higginbotham died after a lengthy illness
at the age of 73. She was the wife of the late Donald Higginbotham and daughter
of the late Clifford & Catherine (Greer) Smith. She lived in Taunton her entire
life. She was educated in schools in Taunton and was a graduate of St. Mary’s
High School. Virginia enjoyed reading and loved being with her Grandchildren.
She was employed as a receptionist at Pride Workshop in Taunton. Virginia is
survived by her four children; Linda Miller, Bill Higginbotham, David
Higginbotham and Timothy Higginbotham, all of Taunton. Her brother Ernest Smith
of FL. and the late William Smith. Virginia leaves many Grandchildren, step

Alice Elaine Higginbotham Dineen (1924-2009) MA
SAUGUS – Mrs. A. Elaine (Higginbotham) Dineen, 85 years, died on
Tuesday, November 10th at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody. She was the wife of
the late Albert H. Dineen.
Born in Chelsea, raised in Revere & Saugus, she was the daughter of the late
Charles and Gertrude (Minton) Higginbotham. She had resided in Saugus since the
age of 12 and was a Saugus High School graduate. Mrs. Dineen worked as a
pre-school teacher at the Saugus YMCA for over 25 years. Her hobbies were
bowling, square dancing & ballroom dancing. Her most passionate traits were that
she loved children and was a loving and generous grandmother and her family was
her world.
Mrs. Dineen leaves one daughter, Helen “Cookie” Conley and her husband Howard of
Saugus; one son, Albert “Buddy” Dineen and his wife Donna of Saugus; five
grandchildren, Candace Conley of Saugus, Kelli Martin and her husband Jesse of
TX, Christopher Dineen, Jennifer Kohr and her husband Brian all of Peabody,
Gregory Dineen of Saugus; two great grandchildren, Brendan and Brooke Martin.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Finch) Higginbotham, and his son, Gary E. Higginbotham. Sally M. Higginbotham was born on May 31, 1924 to Samuel and Lucille Rainey in Worcester, MA. Sally passed away, peacefully at her home in San Ramon, CA. She is the widow of Charles W. Higginbotham, Jr. They were married for 56 years. Sally is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Fred Hopkins and Linda and Noah Shaffer; three grandchildren, Kimberly Hopkins, Matthew Shaffer, and Andrew Shaffer; and many loving nieces and nephews. She attended Meharry Nursing School in Nashville, Tennessee. She took great joy in cooking for family get togethers and had a variety of other interests, including photography, and interior design. Paul J. Higginbotham (ca1934-2011) MA
HIGGINBOTHAM, Paul J. Age 77, a lifelong resident of Winthrop died at the Bedford VA Hospital on April 19, 2011. He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran who proudly served aboard aircraft carrier USS Antietam during the Korean War. After the war, Mr. Higginbotham worked in management for the Sylvania Corporation for over 20 years. In his retirement, Paul worked for Winthrop Public Schools as a bus driver for the special education students. Mr. Higginbotham's loving and devoted children are: Paul and wife Robin of Sharpesville, GA, Nancy Jurgilewicz and husband Bob of Pepperell, MA., William Higginbotham of Rumney, NH, Mary Dean and husband John of Peabody, MA, Janet Clarke of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Jimmy Higginbotham of Rumney, NH. Loving grandchildren are: Michael, Kristin, Samantha, Derek, Annika, and James. Paul leaves behind sisters, Joan Cook of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ruthie Loughran and her husband Jim of Dedham, MA. Helen was born in Attleboro a daughter of the late Isaac & Ellen (Reddington) Alger. She was a packing room supervisor for the Swank Manufacturing Co. of Attleboro for over 20 years before retiring in 1984. Mrs. Higginbotham has lived most of her life in Attleboro, she was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was a member of the sewing club, she spent summers on Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay area, she had been a volunteer at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She is survived by 3 sons Robert Higginbotham of Plymouth MA, James Higginbotham of Springfield MA, Dana Higginbotham of Taunton MA, a daughter Kathleen O'Neill of Riverside RI. She was the grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 8, also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Frank Higginbotham, and sister of the late William Alger, Raymond Alger, Eugene Alger, Robert Alger, George Alger, and also the late Ann Cassidy. Attleboro - Hazel M. (Higginbotham) Griffin, 95, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton A. Griffin. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah Jane (Corbishley) Higginbotham. Hazel resided in Seekonk most of her life before moving to Attleboro eighteen years ago. She was a volunteer at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for many years, and was an accomplished homemaker. Hazel was active for many years at the former Hebron Baptist Church, now Memorial Baptist Church, Seekonk, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, organist and choir member. Hazel leaves three children and their spouses, Alan “Lanny” Griffin and his wife Carolyn of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ronald Griffin and his wife Dolores of Lincoln, Rhode Island and Karen Perry and her husband Henry of Seekonk, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Troy, Tammy, Patty, Kerri and Laura and ten great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph and Gerald Higginbotham, Marion Mager, Geraldine Elderkin and Olive Lowe. VISITATION will begin Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Services at 11 a.m. at WILLIAM W. Mary Douzanis Higginbotham (ca1920-2012) Greece/NH/MA
Mary Higginbotham of Bridgewater died peacefully at home in Plymouth Sept. 26, at the age of 92. Mary and her late parents, Nicholas and Fanio Douzanis, immigrated to the United States, arriving at Ellis Island aboard the ship Constantinople on Oct. 2, 1923. She and her family lived in Nashua, N.H., and then settled in Bridgewater. She grew up working for her father in the restaurant business. She married the late Thomas A. Higginbotham on Nov. 8, 1942, and the two raised their family in Bridgewater. In 1959 , Mary and her sister Helen bought Larry's Lunch, located in Bridgewater, from her father and she ran it until 1987. Mary had a passion for cooking, loved music and dancing, and enjoyed these activities with her family and her many friends in Bridgewater and Newport. She traveled back to her hometown in Afete, Greece, to visit her brother and other family members on many occasions and was always proud of her Greek heritage. Mary was the devoted wife of the late Thomas A. Higginbotham; and the loving mother of Esther Anderson and her husband Ralph of Florida, Elizabeth A. McSwiggin and her husband Frederick of Plymouth, Thomas Higginbotham and his wife Elizabeth, Fannie Higginbotham-Joost and her husband Tim of Hull, and the late Nicholas Higginbotham; loving Grandma of Ralphie, Kirsten, Scott, Emilie, Faye, Amanda, Tommy, Ashley, Robert, Chloe, Grant; and great-grandmother of Shannon, Shawn, Megan, and Brianna; loving sister of Helen Zinkevich and the late Paul, Larry, George, and Eddie. John Keith Higginbotham, 58, of Westford, MA died unexpectedly Sunday Jan. 20, 2013 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. He was married to Claire M. (Murphy) Higginbotham with whom he would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Feb. 12. Keith was born on Sept. 21, 1954 in Monroe, GA, a son of the late John W. and Ada Elizabeth(Malcom) Higginbotham. He was raised in Monroe and graduated High School with the Class of 1972. A Veteran of the Vietnam Era, Keith served in the US Navy on the USS Valdez and attained the rank of IC2. Keith worked at Puma of Westford, MA as a Network Manager. He previously worked for Archdiocese of Boston and Brighton, and at Xerox of Lexington, MA. Keith was an avid Grill Master and enjoyed smoked barbeque and baking bread. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved carpentry and deep sea fishing. Keith was an active member of St. Catherine's Church in Westford where he also served as Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the New England Barbeque Society. Kathleen E. Higginbotham O'Neill (ca1958-2013) MA
O'NEILL, KATHLEEN E. (HIGGINBOTHAM) 54, of Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday February 2, 2013. She was born and raised in Attleboro, a daughter of the late Frank & Helen (Alger) Higginbotham. Kathleen was a Teaching Assistant for Barrington Public Schools. She was incredibly passionate about working with children with special needs. Kathleen was a dedicated and loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by a son Christopher Tucker of Smithfield, RI, a daughter Jennifer and her husband Richard Barrett of Milford CT, 3 brothers Robert Higginbotham of Plymouth, MA, James Higginbotham of Springfield, MA, and Dana Higginbotham of Taunton, MA. Kathleen was the sister of the late Frank Higginbotham of San Juan, PR. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours prior to her funeral service. Her funeral service will be held Monday Feb. 11, 2013 at 10:00am in the Foley Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main Street, Attleboro, Massachusetts. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Paul R. Higginbotham (1952-2014) MA/ME
SOLON - Paul R. Higginbotham, 61, of Solon, died April 14, 2014, unexpectedly at a Bangor hospital. Born in Townsend, Mass., Nov. 10, 1952, he was the son of Arnold and Marion (Valcourt) Higginbotham. Paul married Linda Lang on Jan. 8, 1990, enjoying 24 years of marriage. He enjoyed spending time with his family, tying flies, fishing, hunting, and camping. He worked many years as a copier machine repairman and also doing odd jobs. He was in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Paul is survived by his wife, Linda, of Solon; son Christopher, of Solon; daughter Ruth Grass and her husband, Matthew, of Skowhegan; three grandchildren, Kalob and Kirsty Higginbotham, of Athens, and Mylo Higginbotham, of New Hampshire; three brothers, David Higginbotham, of Farmington, Russell Higginbotham, of Massachusetts, and Roland Higginbotham, of Fairfield; many nieces and nephews; a special grand-niece, Amanda Mims ,of Solon; and a special great-great grandnephew, David Gardiner Jr., of Winslow. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.

Ella Nelson Higginbotham (1917-2014) MA
Ella (Nelson) Higginbotham, 96, of Quincy died Thursday, May 1, 2014. The daughter of the late Carl M. and Lillian J. (Hall) Nelson, she was born in Boston, 1917. She was raised and educated in North Quincy. She enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles and the Red Sox. Her favorite vacations were at Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H. Wife of the late Edwin Higginbotham, she is survived by one son, Robert Pinkham of Alexandria, Va.; two grandchildren, Robert Pinkham Jr. and Janet Pinkham, both Raleigh, N.C. Interment was private in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Arrangements by the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St., Quincy Center.

Martina Leary Higginbotham (1931-2014) MA
HIGGINBOTHAM, Martina 83 of Centerville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 4, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Joseph P. Higginbotham, Jr. to whom she was married 54 years. Martina was born in Boston to Cornelius and Eleanor Leary and grew up in Winthrop, MA. She worked for the probate court in Boston and in Barnstable for 27 years. She was a diabetic for 76 years and the doctors told her it was unlikely that she could ever have children. She was a devout Catholic who loved her faith. Martina was also an avid Red Sox Fan. In addition to her husband, Martina is survived by her five (5) children; Thomas J. Higginbotham of Cotuit, Peter M. Higginbotham (Maria) of Houston, TX, Christine M. Higginbotham of Centerville, Neal O. Higginbotham (Mary) of Lake Mary, FL and Richard P. Higginbotham (Holly) of Centerville; her seven (7) grandchildren; John, Joseph, Matthew, Juliet, Thomas, Michael and Anna; siblings, Sister M. Paul Joseph of the order of Saint Joseph's at Bethany Hall in Framingham and Rosamond Fandel of Pennington, NJ. Martina was predeceased by her siblings, Jack Leary, Eleanor Leary, Paul Leary and Thomas Leary. Visiting hours will be from 9:00 to 10:15 am on Friday, August 8th at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 230 So. Main Street, Centerville, followed by burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. After the burial, friends and family are invited to a gathering at the family home in Centerville to celebrate her life. David W. Higginbotham of Adams St., Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on November 28, 2015. He was 78 years old. Born in Chelsea, he was the beloved son of the late Helen (Hock) and Joseph P. Higginbotham. A life long resident of Winthrop, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School. After his graduation he served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1956 until 1958. After his honorable discharge he went on to work for the Winthrop Fire Department working his way up to chief of the department. He was a member of the Fire Chief's Association, the Winthrop Lodge of Elks, the American Legion and the Winthrop Rotary. He was the devoted husband of Josephine R. (Goodson) and the loving father of David Higginbotham and his wife Jaime of Jacksonville, NC, Kathleen Boudreau of Winthrop, Kevin Higginbotham and his wife Karen of Nottingham, NH and Karen MacDonald and her husband David of Winthrop. Dear brother of Joseph Higginbotham of Centerville, Ruth Loughran of Dedham, Robert Higginbotham of Peabody and the late Joan, John and Paul. Cherished grandfather of Catherine, Kellie, David III, Jonathan, James, Erica, Alana and Kayla. Great grandfather of Lucas.
