List of passenger deaths during the voyage

The Port Phillip Patriot reported:
The "England", which arrived on Saturday
last, was temporarily placed in quarantine to consequence of the whooping cough having made its appearance on the passage. The circumstances being reported to his Honor the Superintendent, he immediately gave orders for the Board of Health, composed of Doctors Cussen, Wilmott and Patterson, R.N., to proceed to the vessel.

The Board, on making the necessary enquiries, found that the disorder had been extinct for some weeks past, and on their recommendation the vessel was accordingly released. There were in all eighteen deaths on the passage, but only two of the number were adults.

Found in the Victorian Public Record Office Series 19 (Inward
correspondence,  Supt. Port Phillip, C.J. LaTrobe) unit/box no. 17, letter 41/1129 dated 6 August 1841 - Dr Paterson reported that from the "England"
4 women and 3 men, who were in need of medical treatment, had been placed in tents on arrival.
