  1880 census Cornelius and Ruth with son Ulysses Grant, 14, adjacent to his married farmer son William and Abigail's family. This record indicates both his parents born in New Jersey.
  Also next to them are three Manifold households -Alonzo B, William and James Manifold families.
  Cornelius Wells owned land right next to the United Brethren Church on property owned by the Manifold family. The cemetery description says George Manifold, but the 1876 map shows it was then owned by William Manifold.
  
  Widowed, Ruth, is found on the 1900 census,Olive, Noble, Ohio, with her married son Grant and Phebe (Ball) family. This record indicates Ruth had 11 children, 4 living. Phebe had 5, 5 living.
  She also appears on the 1910 Zanesville City Directory as widow of Cornelius, residing Harvard St, same address as son Grant's family.

  CALDWELL - Dewey Wells, 79, of Caldwell Rt 4, died 7 a.m. Wednesday at his residence following an apparent heart attack. Retired superintendent of Olive Cemetery near Caldwell, Mr.. Wells was born June 3, 1898 at Davis Ridge in Noble County, a son of the late James and Carrie Dyer Wells.
  
  Mr. Wells attended Caldwell Free Methodist Church. His wife Mary Davison Wells, died in 1962.
  
  Surviving are three sons, Glenn D. of Newark Rd., Chalmer of Caldwell Rt 1, and James of Caldwell Rt. 6; tow daughters, Mrs. Donna Davis of Caldwell Rt 4, and Mrs. Joy Flood of Caldwell; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
  
  Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at McVay Funeral Home in Caldwell. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Cain officiating. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.
