"Capt. James Wells of Delaware fate put a period to his existence a few days ago. He was in the recruiting service and had raised his company, but having transferred the limits of his allowance, was involved in debt on the company's account, to the amount of about two hundred dollars. He received orders to repair to the rendezvous at Pittsburg; but owing to his embarrassment was detained. He applied, stated his café, and requested relief. His application proved unsuccessful. In the presence of his Lieut. He wrote a letter, stating the cause of the act he was about to commit, sealed it, directed it to the lieut, and stepped into an adjoining room and shot himself; the lieut. Hearing the report of the pistol, ran in and found him lifeless."
