  Funeral services for Mr. Archie Marshall Wells, 89, of Rockport, Illinois will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1st at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Jim Deck will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, October 31st at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Samuel Taylor Cemetery at Rockport, Illinois with Military Honors conducted by members of American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana, Missouri. Mr. Wells died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home in Rockport, Illinois. He was born December 11, 1917 in Rockport, Illinois to James and Abbie Marie Fuller Wells. He married Rose Marie Asquith July 25, 1965 at Pleasant Hill, Illinois and she survives. He is also survived by three sons, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Ted Wells of Quincy, Illinois and a sister, Hattie Bower of Plainville, Illinois, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Wells and Jerry Wells and two sisters, Louise Phillips and Emma Doram. Mr. Wells had been the Postmaster at Rockport, Illinois from 1951 until his retirement in 1983. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II serving on the USS LCT #567 and USS LST #242. He had received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre 4 stars and Philippine Liberation 2 stars. He was the founder of the Pike County Water District in 1965 and served as the first President of the Board. He attended the Rockport Christian Church. Archie enjoyed Gardening, Fishing and working on his home. He was very proud that he had built his own home with plans drawn by his son, Marshall. Pallbearers are; Monte Ray Wells, Chad Marshall Wells, Scott Trenton Wells, Timothy Sean Wells, Danny Meyers and Robert Prater.
