    Mrs. Mary Olive Wells, 89, Scio died Tuesday morning in Twin City Hospital at Dennison following an extended illness. She was born December 1, 1895 in Carrollton, a daughter of the late Jackson and Margaret (Moore) Brown. She was a member of Scio United Presbyterian Church and a 25-year member of Carrollton chapter 315, Order of Eastern Star. She was a former employee of the former Surety Rubber Co. in Carrollton and widow of the late Lester Wells, who died May 8, 1979.
    Survivors include three sons, Roy of Tampa, Florida, Lester of Hamden, Ohio, and Ralph of Scio; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Summer of Pompano Beach, Florida; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Jack Paxton officiating. Burial will be in Westview cemetery here Calling hours were held from 7 to 9 p.m. this Wednesday.

    GLADYS L. (BUMGARNER) WELLS
    89, of Springfield, passed away March 15, 2003. She was born August 5, 1913 near Mount Sterling, Ohio, to Wyatt and Rebecca (Wright) Bumgarner. She graduated from Mount Sterling High School and Cedarville College. After graduation she taught school for many years. She taught in Madison County before coming to the Pitchin School in Clark County. Later she taught at Kenwood Heights Elementary School in Springfield for more than thirty years. For several years she was a 4-H leader and also taught children's Sunday School classes. She was a member of the Story-Hypes United Methodist Church, the Kenwood Retired Teacher's group and the Clark County Retired Teacher's Association. Her husband, Roy A. Wells, a former teacher and principal died in 1981. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Walter Bragg; two brothers, Elbert Bumgarner and Edmund Bragg; and one son, Merrill Wells. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Stephen Sobers of Washington Court House; two sons and daughters-in-law, Myron and Barbara Wells of Springfield and Wayne and Yvonne Wells of Sylva, North Carolina; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Wells of Springfield. She also leaves several grandchildren, Jennifer and Lee Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Phillip Sobers of Wahington Court House, Mark Wells of Zanesville, Chris and Lisa Wells of Bpringfield, Mendy and Terry Gray of Lewis Center, Ohio, Melinda Herier of Springfield, Kevin and Kim Wells of Vancouver, Washington, Kelly and Allen Perkins of Dillsboro, North Carolina and Kenneth and Paige Wells of Englewood, Tennessee. Great-grandchildren include, Samuel Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Veronica and Dakota Perkins of Dillsboro, North Carolina, Wyatt Wells of Englewood, Tennessee, D. J. Herier of Springfield, Jocelyn and Lucas Wells of Springfield and Morgan and Sydney Gray of Lewis Center. One brother, Theodore Bragg, resides in Ruskin, Florida. There are several surviving nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the memorial home with Rev. David Wiechel officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the memorial fund of the Story-Hypes United Methodist Church at 2000 East Main Street, Springfield, Ohio 45503.

    Beulah was a member of Clark Presbyterian Church, and was an avid knitter and a nanny all of her life.

    Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wells; brothers, Carl Casey and Raymond Casey; and sisters, Ruth Allison and Blanche Hoxworth.

William Gross of the First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby and the Rev. Norman Schreiber of Willoughby United Methodist Church officiated. He was buried in Willoughby Village Cemetery Sec K; Row 14; Stone No. 5 with his first wife, Helen Corrine Durbin Wells (1903- 1961).
