  Mrs. George Wells, well known and esteemed resident of Sycamore for many years, passed from this life at her home on Center Cross street at 6 o’clock on Saturday evening, March 17. Her illness had extended over two years, and she had put up a strong and patient fight, consulting the best specialists in the effort to prolong her life.
  Ammanella Prudence Harned was born in Sycamore township July 28, 1864, and here she spent her girlhood and received her education. Her parents were Edmund B. and Susan (Sivwright) Harned, who passed away long ago, well remembered by many. The subject of this sketch was for 20 years engaged as a trained nurse in Minneapolis, and later, returned to her home and family in this city.
  She was married to Clarence G. Meeker on July 29, 1903, and they resided here until his death in 1909. She was married to George Wells on May 5, 1911, and they lived for several years on their farm northeast of town, spending each winter at Biloxi, Miss., to escape our rigorous winters. About three years ago, they bought and remodeled a home on Center Cross street and since had passed their winters at home. Mrs. Wells had long been a member of the Congregational church. She had also been a member of the Nestor Literary club for many years. As a neighbor she was noted for her kindness and willingness to help in sickness and trouble. Possessing a bright mind and a happy disposition, she was a welcome addition to any company. She will be greatly missed by all with whom she was associated.
  She leaves besides her husband George Wells, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Charles C. Pond and Mrs. F. J. Winchester, both of Sycamore, and Dr. Merton R. Harned and Dr. James E. Harned, both of Rockford, and a number of nephews and nieces.
  The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home, Rev. F. H. Bishop, pastor of the Congregational church, officiated, and Mrs. Esther Cliffe sang. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
