Caroline Palmeter1

F, #103982, b. 29 May 1808, d. 10 December 1851
  • Reference: FAG
  • Birth*: 29 May 18081
  • (Bride) Marriage*: 15 March 1843; Lake Co., Illinois, USA; Groom=George Wells
  • Death*: 10 December 1851
  • Burial*: 10 December 1851; Wauconda Cemetery, Wauconda, Lake Co., Illinois, USA; Caroline Palmeter was b. in Oneida Co., NY. She was the daughter of Ebenezer & Lois (Hollister) Palmeter.

It is believed that Caroline married Benjamin Wheelock. (This is stated in the Hollister family book.
He died or otherwise disappeared & we believe she then married George Wells, possibly as his 2nd wife, his 1st unknown, if there is one.

Caroline is buried next to Edwin C. Wheelock. She is much too old to have been his sister.
    ---------------------
There is a marriage license record for Caroline Whelock to George Wells in Lake Co., IL in 1843:
WELLS, GEORGE WHELOCK, CAROLINE 1843-03-15 092M1870 LAKE
They may have had a son, George A. Wells b. 1845.
    --------------------
This statement is with the courtesy of Ted Wheelock:

If I were a betting man, I'd say that Benjamin, who was a native of Massachusetts, was a grandson of Paul and Thankful (Rand) Wheelock. These families who originated in Massachusetts and then immigrated to Herkimer, NY are not well documented, but there are plenty of offsrping. If you have time and resources, I'd invest them on this line of descent. The only hesitation I have is that Eliza Copsey was born in England. There is an outside chance that this a new Wheelock branch from England or Canada, but unlikely.
    -------------------------
