    Decatur Herald 9/29/1892

The announcement of the death of Mrs.W.T.Wells was received with feelings of deep sorrow by the circle of friends who have enjoyed her acquaintances for years past. The illness which resulted in her death was one that has fastened itself upon her years ago but was never pronounced or dangerous until a few days ago. Her death was caused by Brights disease. One day last week Mrs.Wells was taken ill but her ailment was not manifested as fatal one until Monday morning. From that time it was found that death had marked her as a victim. All that love and medical skill could do to avert the coming of the silent messenger availed naught. At 5 oclock last evening the sufferer peacefully passed to a future reward which she firmly believed and trusted would be hers.
Mrs.Wells was born May 6, 1834, in Goshen, Mass. Her maiden name was Helen M. Parsons and she was married to Mr.Wells in this city on October 23, 1861. The husband and two children survive her. They are Major F.P.Wells and Mrs.M.R.Keeley of Dewight, Ill. A brother F. M. Parsons, of Hawkinsville,Ga. and a sister,Mrs.Stone of Goshen, Mass, survive her.
Thus briefly are the recorded facts of her life told but they convey in no manner the history of a Christian life,a devoted wife and indulgent, mother. Those virtues are written on the hearts of those who knew and loved and esteemed her and the impress could not be made deeper by any word now spoken.
In the home, the church and society she was the same earnest, devoted Christian woman. For years she has been a member of the First Presbyterian church and gave her time and means to its advancement. In all her professions of religion she was consistent, laboring for the upbuilding of religions in the belief that it was her duty and depending upon the fulfillment of the promises held out to her by the Master.
Mrs.Wells was not a society woman in the strict sense of the word but she was what is far better and nobler, a home woman and it was in her home life that the sterling qualities of heart and mind shone forth the brightest. In her death society loses an example of exalted womanhood and those who knew her will deeply sympathize with her grief stricken husband and children.
The funeral will probably be held Friday.
