  In the Name of God Amen. I STEPHEN WELLS of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina being in a low state of health but of sound mind and memory blessed be God, do this the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifty make and publish this my last will and testament in form and manner following to wit:
  
  First that my executor herein after named shall pay all my just debts whatsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into their hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife MARY WELLS two feather beds, bedsteads and furniture, her choice two black walnut tables and two hundred dollars in money to her and her heirs forever.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my son BARTLEY WELLS, five dollars current money of said estate to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my son EDMON D. WELLS, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture, one negro boy by the name of DENNIS and one hundred dollars in money to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Item: I lend to my beloved wife MARY WELLS all my land and plantation whereon I now live and the following negroes to wit: OLD JACOB and RODAH his wife, HARTY HARRIETT and her child TOM ABRAM and LITTLE JACOB and their further increase and all the balance of my estate both real and personal of all kind that I have not disposed of in the above items to her during her natural life or widowhood.
  
  Item: At the death of my beloved wife MARY WELLS or end of her widowhood I give and bequeath all my said estate both real and personal that I have lent to her during her natural life or widowhood to my son REDMON D. WELLS to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son REDMON D. WELLS and my friend J.J.T.TAYLOR Executors to this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the saide STEPHEN WELLS do hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

  In the Name of God Amen. I STEPHEN WELLS of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina being in a low state of health but of sound mind and memory blessed be God, do this the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifty make and publish this my last will and testament in form and manner following to wit:
  
  First that my executor herein after named shall pay all my just debts whatsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into their hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife MARY WELLS two feather beds, bedsteads and furniture, her choice two black walnut tables and two hundred dollars in money to her and her heirs forever.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my son BARTLEY WELLS, five dollars current money of said estate to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my son EDMON D. WELLS, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture, one negro boy by the name of DENNIS and one hundred dollars in money to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Item: I lend to my beloved wife MARY WELLS all my land and plantation whereon I now live and the following negroes to wit: OLD JACOB and RODAH his wife, HARTY HARRIETT and her child TOM ABRAM and LITTLE JACOB and their further increase and all the balance of my estate both real and personal of all kind that I have not disposed of in the above items to her during her natural life or widowhood.
  
  Item: At the death of my beloved wife MARY WELLS or end of her widowhood I give and bequeath all my said estate both real and personal that I have lent to her during her natural life or widowhood to my son REDMON D. WELLS to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son REDMON D. WELLS and my friend J.J.T.TAYLOR Executors to this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the saide STEPHEN WELLS do hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

  In the Name of God Amen. I STEPHEN WELLS of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina being in a low state of health but of sound mind and memory blessed be God, do this the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifty make and publish this my last will and testament in form and manner following to wit:
  
  First that my executor herein after named shall pay all my just debts whatsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into their hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife MARY WELLS two feather beds, bedsteads and furniture, her choice two black walnut tables and two hundred dollars in money to her and her heirs forever.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my son BARTLEY WELLS, five dollars current money of said estate to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Item: I give and bequeath unto my son EDMON D. WELLS, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture, one negro boy by the name of DENNIS and one hundred dollars in money to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Item: I lend to my beloved wife MARY WELLS all my land and plantation whereon I now live and the following negroes to wit: OLD JACOB and RODAH his wife, HARTY HARRIETT and her child TOM ABRAM and LITTLE JACOB and their further increase and all the balance of my estate both real and personal of all kind that I have not disposed of in the above items to her during her natural life or widowhood.
  
  Item: At the death of my beloved wife MARY WELLS or end of her widowhood I give and bequeath all my said estate both real and personal that I have lent to her during her natural life or widowhood to my son REDMON D. WELLS to him and his heirs forever.
  
  Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son REDMON D. WELLS and my friend J.J.T.TAYLOR Executors to this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the saide STEPHEN WELLS do hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

  Anna Wells Bryant of Rossville died Monday, June 14. She was 99. She was the youngest child of Retta McKissick Wells and Francis Marion Wells. Her father was a decorated Confederate war veteran. She was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chickamauga Chapter 1091, and was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harland Bryant, a retired U.S. Army staff sergeant serving in the 6th Calvary. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Upton of Atlanta, Ramona Lawrence of Manchester, Tenn.; grandchildren, Lisa Ann Majors, David Lawrence Jr., Emily Bryant Hoyal, Lindsay Rule Garlinghouse; great-grandchildren, Anna, Emma and Gus Majors, Krista Kessler, David M. Lawrence III. Services: Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. in the Wallis Memorial Chapel of Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with Rev. David Sampson officiating. Burial: West Hill Cemetery. Visitation: Wednesday, June 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
