Annie was born on July 10,
1893, the youngest of all the Webb children. She grew up in Amory but
married a man from Kosciusko, Col. Earnest Leslie Lucas, who was born on
July 24, 1892. Leslie was a Col. in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Annie and Leslie moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked in the Pentagon.
Annie soon found a position that took advantage of her clerical skills
and, probably becoming the first of our Webbs to do so, worked on clerical
staff inside the White House!
I do not know much about their lives in D.C., but I do know that Annie was
very interested in genealogy herself and when Dr. Arthur E. Thomas of Dallas
was working on a smaller family history of the Webb family, that he was often
in touch with Annie who helped him out quite a bit on the David Blalock Webb
line.
Leslie passed away in 1981,
at the age of 88, and Annie lived another fourteen years after that, passing
away in August of 1984, at the age of 91. They were both buried in
our nation's most honored resting place, Arlington National Cemetery.
