Lucinda Emiline Evans, known as just Emiline, was born in Marion County, Alabama, on November 9, 1836 in Lamar County, Alabama. She was the oldest child of Thomas Webb's second marriage. She had older half-siblings, but she was the oldest of the ten children that Tom and Cindy Webb had. The family grew up in what is today Lamar County, Alabama, in the Pine Springs area just northwest of the town of Sulligent.
In about 1858, she married Joseph Webb [at least one descendant says his
full name was Joseph Henry Webb, but we have not been able to confirm this
yet]. We do not know who Joseph's parents were, and since Emiline's
mother was a Webb, it seems possible that he was related. At least
one descendant has told that Joseph and Emiline were indeed related, but
we have yet to prove that they were cousins. There were other Webbs
in the area, and it might be that he was one of their family. We do
know that he was a full fourteen years older than her! So when they
married, and she was twenty-one, he was already thirty-five.
At about the same time they married or just a little before Joseph bought 198
acres of land north of the Evans Cemetery on a branch of the Lost Creek.
This land lies on Chapel Road today and can be seen on the map as the
blue land purchased in 1857. Thomas owned the land shown in purple.
In 1860 Joseph and Emiline bought 119 more acres adjoining their land.
By then, they had their first child, Mary Lucinda, in 1859 and their second, Martha Jane, just before the Civil War, in 1860. On that census, it appears that Joseph and Lucinda were raising Lucinda's younger siblings. Thomas Evans had died in 1856, and for their mother (Lucinda Webb Evans) not to be with her own children at that tender age, it seems as though something must have happened to her by then as well.

During the war, Joseph served in 2 Miss CAV CSA. They had Will Tom Webb during the war, in 1863, and then Hiram Dave Webb right after the war in 1865. After him, they had Henry Ben Webb in 1867. Another son, Jeptha K., was born in 1868 or 1870. Green Wesley Webb was born in either 1870 or 1871.

John L. Webb was born to the couple in 1877, and Ardavilla Clementine Webb in 1878.
In a local paper from 1879, we have been told that Joseph, who supposedly had a new team of horses which ran away from him, wrecked his wagon and was killed in the accident. This is from a newspaper article in the Vernon Clipper 1879-1880 which states that Joseph Webb died in an accident with the wagon and team on Nov. 21, 1879. He was from Pine Springs. [I do not have this article, but if anyone does, I'd love to get a copy!]
Immediately after Joseph's death, Emiline is seen as the household head in 1880:

After this, she moved to Oklahoma with her family. Apparently all her children went to Oklahoma with her, though we do not know for sure where Tom wound up. We do not think she married again. She passed away in Southeastern Oklahoma on October 21, 1913, possibly as a result from some type of skin cancer on her face. She is buried somewhere there. If anyone knows of her place of death or burial, please contact me!
Children of Lucinda Emiline Evans Webb
Mary Lucinda Webb
(md. Isaac Newton Black)
Mary Lucinda was born on December 24, 1858, and married Newt
Black on July 28, 1878 in Vernon. They are on the 1880 census, where
they were in Monroe County, Mississippi, but they moved to Oklahoma with
the Black families and the rest of her siblings. She and Newt had four girls
and one boy together. She passed away at the age of 78 on February
17, 1937, in Atwood, Hughes County, Oklahoma.
Martha Jane Webb
(md. Robert Rigdon Irvin)
Martha Jane married Robert Rigdon Irvin, just a year
older than her, on December 21, 1879, in Lamar County at her home. He
was a medicine peddler and they moved to LeFlore County, Oklahoma, where
they had five children together. When and where she passed away is
unknown to me, but it was probably before 1929 when her husband married a
second time to another Webb cousin.
William Thomas "Tom" Webb
(md. Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Hall)
Tom was born on November 3, 1863 and married Betty, the
daughter of Arvin and Mary Hall, in 1887 in Verona, Mississippi. They
had three children together and lived out their days in Oklahoma with the
rest of his siblings. He passed away at the age of 82 on February 9,
1946, in Atwood, Hughes County, Oklahoma..
Hiram
Dave Webb
(md. Rebecca E. Edwards)
Hiram Dave moved to Monroe, Oklahoma
for a number of years, then on to San Joaquin, California, where he died
at the age of 77, having had six children. More information about him can be found at the link.
Henry Ben Webb
(md. Pearl Marion)
Ben was born on September 20, 1867, in Lamar County, Alabama.
He married Pearl in Mississippi on December 16, 1892. They had
seven children together, but only six reached adulthood. Pearl died
on September 7, 1941, and Ben passed away in Whiteface, Chochran County,
Texas on July 11, 1853, but I have been told that he was later buried back
in LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
Jeptha K. Webb
(never md.)
Jep
was born on April 27, 1870. He was a schoolteacher and never married
nor had any children. His handwriting was surpassingly beautiful. He
passed away on August 7, 1906, in Braden, LeFlore County, Oklahoma supposedly
after he was hit by a train on a foggy night. [I would not be surprised if
his middle name was Kuykendall or some other similar spelling - DAW]
Green Wesley Webb
(md. Cora Adele Young)
West moved to LeFlore County, Oklahoma, where he had eight
children and died at the age of 66. More about him can be found at the link.
John Livingston Webb
(md. Daisy Hopkins)
John was born on July 4, 1876, in Lamar County. He married Daisy,
who was about seven years his younger, in Poteau, LeFlore County, Oklahoma
on May 5, 1901. They lived in Poteau, and had four boys and one girl
together. He passed away at the age of 64, on May 27, 1941, in Poteau,
but is buried at Atwood.
Arvilla "Villa" Clementine
Webb (md. William Henry Hall)
Villa was born on february 28, 1878, in Lamar County, and moved to
LeFlore County, Oklahoma, where she and William Henry, who was a farmer and
had orchards, had three sons. He passed away in 1947 and she passed
away in 1962, at the age of 83. Both were buried in Monroe Cemetery in LeFlore County.
