Pursuant to an Act of the General Assembly passed the 16th day of March 1783, We, the commissioners of the treasury have this day delivered to Mr. William Houlditch late private in Smith's troops Thomas's regiment Sumter's brigade troops this our indented certificate for the sum of ninety four pounds sterling being pay and bounty due him for service in the troop with interest therein from final act 1782 hereof agreeable to resolution of general assembly of the South March last. The said William Houlditch his executors, Administrators or assigns will be entitled to receive from this office the sum of six pounds eleven shilling and 7 sterling on the first October 1785 for one years interest on the principal Sum of ninety four pounds sterling, and the like interest annually by resolution of gen. assembly 1783.
The said William Houlditch his Executors, Administrators or assigns, will be entitled also to receive and shall be paid if demanded, the principal sum of ninety four pounds sterling on the first October 1786. And the said William Houlditch his executors, Administrators or Assigns may make any Purchases at any Public Sales of Confiscated Property; (except such as may be ordered by the legislature for special purposes) and this indent shall be received in payment.
For the true Performance of the several payments in Manner above mentioned, the PUBLIC TREASURY is made liable, and the FAITH of the STATE pledged by the aforesaid ACT. Given under our hands at the TREASURY OFFICE in Charleston the first Day of October One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty four.

William Smith my wages due to me for my ten months service in SC Brigade in the company Commanded by SC Capt. William Smith and you will oblige gentleman your humble servant.

Pursuant to an Act of the General Assembly passed the 16th day of March 1783, We, the commissioners of the treasury have this day delivered to Mr. William Holditch this our INDENTED CERTIFICATE for the sum of one pound five shilling and sixpence sterling for arrears clothing due him for services in Capt Smith's Company Col. Thomas Regiment Sumters Brigade State troops certificate from the commissioners for adjusting the claims of that Brigade. The said William Houlditch his executors, Administrators or assigns will be entitled to receive from this office the sum of 1 shilling and 9 pence sterling on the demand for one years interest on the principal Sum of one pound five shillings and sixpence sterling, and the like interest annually.
The said William Houlditch his Executors, Administrators or assigns, will be entitled also to receive and shall be paid if demanded, the principal sum of one pound five shillings and sixpence sterling on the twenty second June 1789. And the said William Holditch his executors, Administrators or Assigns may make any Purchases at any Public Sales of Confiscated Property; (except such as may be ordered by the legislature for special purposes) and this indent shall be received in payment.
