Wallace Morgan Is Called by Death
De Leon, Comanche County, Texas
Friday, June 18, 1926

The end of his earthly life came to Wallace MORGAN, well known citizen of the Bowman community, at eight o’clock last Tuesday evening, June 8th, 1926. In his last hour he was surrounded by all the members of his family and by the most skillful physicians, all with an eagerness to do whatever possible for him. He was conscious until an hour before death came. He was ill since December 28, last and during his fatal illness he bore his intense suffering with fortitude and patience, never complaining of his lot. He had been confined to his bed constantly for seven weeks, and had been ill for more than five months. Just before the presence of the angel of death drew near, he told those about him he was ready to go.

Wallace MORGAN was born June 25, 1873, at Langston, Jackson county, Ala. Here he grew to manhood and was married on Dec. 8, 1891, to Miss Kittie KING. Three children were born to them in Alabama, and four after they came to Texas, two having died in infancy. The five surviving are Mrs. A.A. GRIMES, Bearden, Ok.; Mrs. D.L. GRIFFITH, De Leon; Mrs. Newman BOWMAN, De Leon and Lester and Myrtle MORGAN who still reside at home. His faithful wife also survives him. Deceased had been a member of the Methodist church since a small boy, joining the Baptist church about 20 years ago. His membership was with the De Leon Baptist church at death. During the 53 years of his life he lived about 28 years in Alabama, 11 years in Mt. Pleasant and had lived in the Bowman community here since 1911. He was a son of Jas. A. and Annie E. MORGAN, both of whom are dead.

Funeral service was at De Leon cemetery Thursday, June 10th, with Revs. W.L. SKAGGS and A.F. NABORS and the W.O.W. in charge. Peace be to his sacred ashes!
