Obituarie of Elvira McLemore Kyle

Mrs. Elvira McLemore Kyle

Hooker's Bend, Hardin Co., TN

Mrs. Elvira McLemore Kyle was born July 17, 1824, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, and moved with her parents to Hardin County, Tennessee in 1852. She was married to Martin Kyle in 1861, whose death preceded hers about twenty years. She professed religion and jointed the M. E. Church, South, when about eighteen years old, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. R. Watson, near Saltillo, Tennessee August 7, 1894. Sister Kyle lived a true, consistent Christian life, and just a short time before she died gave every evidence that all was well with her, and if it was the Lord's will was anxious to leave this world of suffering for one of eternal rest and peace. All who know here loved her, and the entire community was bereaved by her death. She leaves two daughters, an aged mother, and two sisters to mourn their loss. We would say to them: "Weep not, for your loss has been her eternal gain. She can come to you no more, but, thanks be to God, you can go to her, and meet in heaven, and there form a united family, where there will be no more parting. May God comfort you grief-stricken hears, and help you to live that you may meet your loved one in the better world."
