Jennie Mai Croom Thomas

   Pinson.  Jennie Mai Croom Thomas, age 79, a retired school teacher, died at her home, January 5, 1994.

  Mrs. Thomas was born and reared in Pinson; the daughter of the late Neal and Cassie Croom.  She attended schools in Pinson and also graduated from Union University and later received a masters degree at Memphis State University.  She was a teacher at Pinson, Bemis and later Denmark Elementary Schools, teaching for over 46 years.  She was married to Virgil Thomas in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1956.  She was a member of the National Teachers Association, and the Tennessee and Madison County Teachers Associations.  She was the secretary of Sunday School at the Pinson Baptist Church for over 40 years, where she was also a member.

  Mrs. Thomas is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elsie Sheffield of Pinson and a nephew Robert Neal (Doomer) Benson of Pinson.

  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Casey Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson with Rev. Jimmy Bedwell officiating and burial will follow in the Big Springs Cemetery near Pinson.
