Obituary of W.R.Watson

W. R. Watson
Hooker's Bend, Hardin Co., TN

W. R. Watson of Hooker's Bend died October 6th. He had been to Savannah for the day and returned home late in the afternoon. After retiring for the night his wife noticed that he was suffering and called for assistance but he was dead in a few seconds.

He was buried at Oakland church where many from a distance and a great throng of his neighbors had gathered to do his useful life honor. He was born June 10, 1852 near Watson's Chapel, a Methodist church on Hardin's creek in this county. This church was the first church of any denomination to be built in this county and his grandfather was founder of it.

Mr. Watson joined the Methodist church in early manhood and was an officer and accepted member until his death. He was sober honest and for the right and his place in his community will be hard to fill.

He was married to Miss Josephine Kyle (who survives him) in 1877 and to this union was born six children, three daughters and three sons all of whom are dead except Mr. S. M. Watson and Mrs. J. P. Bain of Hooker's Bend.

A good man is gone who will be sadly missed by the community and by many who knew him otherwise than a neighbor.

A Friend.
