Stamford, Conn., Jan. 16.--Joseph Goodhue Houghton, President of the Fidelity Title and Trust Company, Park Commissioner of Stamford and, for about 20 years, a prominent figure in public and business here, is dead at his house, 255 Summer Street, of a lung affection, after seven weeks' illness.
Mr. Houghton was born in Petersham, Mass., Sept. 13, 1842, the son of rev. James Clay Houghton, a Congregational clergyman who was a brother of Henry Oscar Houghton, who founded the Riverside Press at Cambridge. Joseph G. Houghton graduated from Amherst in 1865.
He entered the hardward business in Brooklyn and in 1869 married Miss Sarah Pierrepont Edwards of Brooklyn who is a descendant of Jonathan Edwards. In 1883 Mr. Houghton and his family came to Stamford, where he established himself in the hardware business. He retired in 1897.
Mr. Houghton was treasurer of the Stamford Congregational Church, a trustee of the Helene M. T. Holly $50,000 Fund for the poor; chairman of th Committee on Laws of the Grand Council of the Royal Arcanum of Connecticut; treasurer and vice president of the Woodland Cemetery Association; treasurer of the Varuna Water Company, and a director of the Citizens Savings Bank.
He is survived by his wife and three sons, Walter Edwards Houghton, Secretary and Treasurer of the Citizens Savings Bank; Frederick Morton Houghton, Assistant Cashier of the First National Bank, and Herbert Pierrepont Houghton, President of Waynesburg College, Waynesburg, Penn.16

Albert F. Houghton, retired partner of the publishing firm of Houghton Mifflin Company, 386 Fourth Avenue, died on Sunday at the Park West Hospital, 170 West Seventysixth Street, after a ten-day illness. He was 87 years old and lived at 425 West End Avenue.

New York—(AP) Albert F. Houghton, 87, director and former vicepresident of Houghton, Miffin & Company, publishers of Boston and New York, died Sunday of heart complications after an operation, it was revealed yesterday.

Among authors he published were Kate Douglas Wiggin and Mary Johnston, whose “To Have and To Hold” was a best seller at the turn of the century. The Rev. Dr. Archibald L. Love, formerly for several years assistant pastor of Plymouth Church in Brooklyn during the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. Newell Dwight Hillis, died on Friday night in St. John's Hospital after a brief illness. He was in his seventy-eighth year. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at his late home, 179 Park Place, Brooklyn, with the Rev. Dr. J. Stanley Durkee, pastor of Plymouth Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Dr. Love was a native of Connecticut and was educated at hamilton College and Andover Theological Seminary. Following his ordination in 1879 he had held pastorates at princeton, Mass; Putnam, Conn; the Manhattan Congregational Church, St. Louis, Mo., and Albany, N.Y. While in Albany he also served as chaplain of the State Senate and Assembly. He became assoicated with the plymouth Church in 1910 succeeding the Rev. H. H. Crocker.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie C. Houghton, daughter of Albert G. Houghton of Houghton, Mifflin & Co., whom he married fifty-one years ago; four sons, Dr. O. Houghton Love of Little Falls, N.Y; Archibald L., Jr., of Brooklyn; William D., of Berkeley, Cal., and Albert G. Love, and two daughters, Mrs. R. H. B. Thompson of St. Louis and Mrs. C. Lansing Hays of Brooklyn.12

He was the son of Henry Z. Pratt and Lucy Brace of Hartford, CT. He is survived by his widow, four children and five grandchildren. His children are: Albert Houghton Pratt, William B. Pratt, Lucy B., now Mrs. Leonard Fackner, and Miss Marilla Pratt.
