Age 102, died peacefully in her home on February 3, 2012. She was born on December 11, 1909 to Austin D. and Effie D. (Deacon) Houghton. On June 1, 1929 she married Aloysius P. Minick and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1987. Thelma was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Whittaker. She owned and operated Thelma's Beauty Salon in Willis and later in Milan. She enjoyed life and loved to entertain her family and friends with her wonderful cooking and joyous laughter. Thelma is survived by a son, Larry Minick of FL, a daughter, Marilyn Collier of CA, a daughter-in-law Marilyn Minick of FL. 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren and a sister Betty Williams of Ann Arbor. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son Robert, a great-great granddaughter Taylor Marie Fisher, four brothers; Lloyd Johnson, Elmer, Gordon, and Ralph Houghton and four sisters; Lillian, Dratwinski, Inez Gulembo, Dorothy Mallay and Genevieve Sparrow. A memorial Mass of Celebration will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Whittaker, MI on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 am. with the Rev. Fr. Ed Ertzbischoff presiding. Gordon F. Houghton Sr.

Aged 92, of Spring Arbor, formerly of Addison, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2004 at Arbor Manor in Spring Arbor. Born on October 3, 1911 in Lakeview, MI to Austin and Effie (Deacon) Houghton. He married Gertrude L. Crosby on April 17, 1937 in Ypsilanti, MI, and she preceded him in death on June 4, 1987. Gordon lived in the Cement City area for 17 years, then in Somerset, and then in Addison since 1971. He was employed at the Cement City Cement Plant for 19 years, Addison Products for 17 years, retiring in 1977. He did maintenance work at Trust Corp Bank in Addison, retiring 1997. He was one of the original members of the Onsted Coon Hunters Club. Surviving are one daughter, Jackie (Venice) Mason of Jerome; one son, Mike Houghton (Jan) of Jackson; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grand-children; three sisters, Thelma Minick of Hudson, FL, Betty Williams of Milan, MI, Jenny Sparrow of Willis, MI. Preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; three brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Keith W. Porter officiating. Visitation 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Burial Hillside Cemetery in Addison. Memorial contributions to the Addison United Church Missionary Fund.²
