Clifford R Houghton. 62. of 42 First St . died yesterday at Franklin Hospital in San Francisco. He had been ill with a heart ailment about a month. Mr. Houghton came to Napa from his native slate of Oklahoma in 1912. For the past 11 years, he had been employed as a welder at Kaiser Steel Co. He is survived by his widow. Connie: three sons, Pat of Sacramento, Joseph of Napa and Ray of Great Falls. Mont; two daughters. Mrs Myrna Barker of Napa and Mrs. Myra Landers of Long Beach; a sister. Mrs. Elsie Terry of Coffeyville, Kan; and 12 grandchildren. Burial will he in Tulocay Cemetery.

Former Three Sands Woman Dies Age 75; TONKAWA Jan 2— Mrs Sarah Houghton 75 years of age died in the home of her son Vern Houghton three miles east and 12 miles 'north of Blackwell at I o'clock Friday morning Her death followed an extended illness. Funeral services are to be held at i2 o'clock Satl:rday afternoon in the 'McCafferty funeral home Burial is to be in the Tonkawa I O O F Cemetery. Mrs Houghton formerly lived in the Three Sands oil field. Her husband who died in 1925 is buried in the local cemetery. She has not made her home here for several years She is survived by five sons Ernie Houghton and G H Houghton of Seiling J P Houghton of Enid; Clifford Houghton of Ponca City ad Vern Houghton, and three daughters. Mrs O. A Lanman of Dacoma. Mrs. O E Hamly of Harper and Mrs. Elsie Cox of Garber.

Jim Anderson: Almost certainly did not marry Thomas Dix
Right now I have no proof that 'our' Mary Houghton did not marry Thomas Dix, but I offer these points for consideration.

1. Cephas & family appear in the 1830 U.S. Census in Warner, Merrimack, New Hampshire. I say that Mary is the female in that census that is 10yrs but less than 15. This shows that Cephas and family moved from Waltham sometime before 1830.

2. Cephas & family appear in the 1840 U.S Census in Bolton MA. Since the last census Mary W. (Goodnow) Houghotn has died and Cephas has married Mary T. Danforth. In this census I say that our Mary is the female listed as 20 and not 30. If our Mary was married in April of 1840 why is she appearing in this census with her father & new step mother.

3. As you note she appears in the 1850 census again in Cephas's household as Mary Houghton not as Mary Dix.
4. Same thing for the 1860 census.
5. Mary's death record from the Bolton VR's says she was single & again her name is Mary Houghton not Dix.
6. In her Will she is refered to only as Mary Houtghton.⁸
