HYANNIS - Henry P. Houghton, born Oct. 24, 1913, died July 17, 2009, at Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center. Born and raised in Ashby, he was the son of Carl Houghton and Emma Flodin; beloved husband for 67 years of the late Evelyn P. Houghton; brother of the late Rodney Houghton and Beth Leach; and grandfather of the late Clyde Baker and Marshall Baker. He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Lang; son-in-law Stephen Lang; granddaughters Lynne Richards and Sandra Radzik; great-grandson Michael Radzik; great-granddaughter Regan Brownville; great-great-grandson Alex Duval; and cousins Calvin Page and "Happy" Page. Mr. Houghton worked as a horse-drawn milk carrier and owned a photography studio. He was also a bricklayer, master carpenter and maintenance supervisor at Cushing Hospital for many years. He was awarded five battle stars for his service in World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge. He is a 32nd degree Mason and past commander of the VFW. Mr. Houghton made his home in Framingham for many years before retiring to Eastham. He wintered in Florida for many years where he enjoyed shuffleboard. He enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, feeding the birds and caring for his dog. He also loved collecting milk bottles and reading.
