ObituaryPioneer Woman Called To Rest: Lucy M. Hoyt was born August 4, 1835 in Hume, Allegan County, NY She was the daughter of Daniel and Elsey Ann Hoyt and moved with them to Orleans, Michigan, when she was about 3years of age and has been a resident of the county all her life. It was a wilderness at that time, Indians being nearly all the neighbors and often calling at their home. Wolves, bear and deer were very abundant received her education in a log school house and later taught school. She was married July 4, 1858 to John King and settled on a farm in Orleans, township. Three sons and one daughter was born to this union, Fred E. who passed away five years age; Bert G. of El Centro, California; Dan H. of this city, with whom she has made her home for 13 years, and Mary L.C. who passed away 14 years ago. She was a member of Greens M.E. church, becoming a Christian when only a young girl. She was always active in any Christian work. She leaves to mourn their loss one brother, George Hoyt, of Orleans; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends. She passed away February 1, 1925, age 89yrs 6 Months. 8 days. Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Dan King, Sunday, February 15 at PM Rev H.E. Curch officiating. Burial at Orleans beside her husband who died 9 years ago.2
NoteLucy Hoyt lived with her son Dan for her last 13 years.

BiographyRohwer: On this 6th day of February 1891, Marietta E. Morton, aged 48 years, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by act of Congress, approved Jun 27, 1890: That she is the legal guardian of Allen A. Hall, who is at the present time an incompetent person which said disability to their best knowledge and belief is permanent in its character and renders the said ward partially helpless (mentally incompetent); that said ward is the legitimate child of Frank Hall.

Marietta died at 78 years old, from Bible.

Mariette lived in Pentwater for a number of years preceding her death. She was active in the Methodist Church, W.C.T.U. and Women's Auxiliary to the G.A.R. veterans of the Civil War.

Mariette Eliza Hoyt-Morton was born November 9, 1842, at Orleans, Michigan and died at her home in Pentwater, March 28, 1918. She was united in marriage to Franklin Hall, July 4, 1857, who in 1862 enlisted in the service of his country and gave his life on the battle field. There were three children born to this union, one dying in infancy, and Allen A. Hall who died in 1899, and Mrs Medora Nickerson, who survives her.

In 1867 she was married to James A. Morton, who died April 24, 1885, and to them were born two sons, Dwight H. Morton of Gary, Indiana, and Paul J. Morton of Muskegon, Muskegon Co., Michigan. Besides these two sons and the daughter, she is survived by two sisters, Lucy M. King and Almira E. Face, both of Belding, Michigan, and one brother, George H. Hoyt of Orleans, Michigan, with many other relatives and a host of friends.

Forty-eight years ago she united with the Methodist Church and has been a faithful and consistent member of the same ever since. Her funeral was held from the Pentwater Church on Saturday forenoon, March 30, 1918. Rev. B.S. Shaw, pastor of the church officiating.2
