Robert Kingbury Houghton. 75, of South Cove Lane, died Thursday in Uncas On-the-Thames Hospital, Norwich, after a long illness. Born in Stoneham, Mass., he lived in Essex for 40 years, formerly in Enfield. He was a retired chemical engineer, having worked for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co., Thompsonville. He was past president of the Enfield Cemetery Association and treasurer of Enfield Congregational Church. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was the widower of Mrs. Marian Edgeworth Houghton. He leaves a daughter. Mrs. Donald Malcame of Essex ; a son. Robert L. Houghton of Jacksonville. Fla; a brother, Norman Houghton of Stoneham, Mass. : and two sisters. Miss Elma Houghton of Stoneham and Mrs. Marjorie Davis of Manchester, Mass

Deceased Name: NORMAN HOUGHTON, 83 RAN STONEHAM PLUMBING FIRM
STONEHAM - Norman R. Houghton Sr., 83, owner of Houghton Plumbing and Heating Co. in Stoneham, died Friday in New England Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Houghton, a lifelong Stoneham resident, graduated from Stoneham High School in 1921 and attended Northeastern University. He later graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Mr. Houghton operated the company founded by his grandfather in the 1880s from 1921 until his recent illness.

He was past president of the Stoneham Rotary and also was a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

He was a past master and 60-year member of the King Cyrus Masonic Lodge in Stoneham.

He was also a former Boy Scout leader, and a past director of the Camp Fellsland Council.

He was also a charter member of the Community Concert Association in Stoneham.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Audrey (Parker); two sons, Norman R. Jr. of Stoneham and Walter A. Houghton of Billerica; a sister, Marjorie Davis of Manchester; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held in Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, Stoneham, tomorrow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Marcheselli ot North Easton, Jean Glebus of Griffin, Georgia, Nancy E. McDonald of Plymouth, Denise Nielsen of Millbury. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 cousins and several nieces and nephews. A funeral wilt be held Thurs. Dec. 18th at 9 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 No. Main St, MANSFIELD. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. In St Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St., (Rte. 106), Mansfield. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours Wed. 2-4, 7-9 P.M. Burial in St Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield. In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory may be made to St. Mary's Expansion Fund, 330 Pratt St., Mansfield, MA. 02048.

(Kemmerer) Houghton, a native and former resident of the Allentown area A 1937 graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he was chief chemist for the state of New Hampshire before retiring. Born in South Weymouth, Mass., he was a son of the late Donald M. and Jenny Gertrude (Francis) Houghton. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Lebanon, Lebanon County.
