SURPRISED FRIENDS BY ANNOUNCING MARRIAGE
Miss Edna Beryl Brackenbury, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Brackenbury, of Cass City, and Hilton B. Warner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Warner, also of Cass City surprised their friends the first of the week by announcing their marriage which took place November 28, 1931, at Angola, Indiana. Although the immediate families have known of the wedding, it was not told to others until now. Rev. Basil Holt of Angola officiated at the service.
Mr. and Mrs. Warner both graduated from Cass City high school in 1924. The bride received her life certificate to teach from the Michigan State Normal college at Ypsilanti and has one year toward her degree. She taught the Moshier school one year, taught at Almont two years and the last year at Novi.
After graduation Mr. Warner joined the United States Navy and remained with that branch six years, returning to Cass City two years ago. They will make their home in Cass City.

Edna Warner
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, for Edna Beryl (Brackenbury) Warner at the Novesta Church of Christ. Howard Woodard will officiate at the 2:00 o’clock service.
She died Nov. 24 at St. Petersburg, Fla., after a short illness.
Born July 3, 1906, in Huron County, she moved when a child with her parents to Cass City where she lived until her marriage to Hilton B. Warner. He preceded her in death in 1977.
She graduated from Eastern College in Ypsilanti. Following graduation, she taught at several different schools around Michigan, finally teaching in Florida.
She had resided for the past several years in St. Petersburg.
She was a member of the Congregational Church in St. Petersburg and also for several years a member of the Sweet Adelines Chapter there.
Surviving are: 2 sons, Robert of Etna, Calif, and Alan of Wilmington, N.C; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Johnson of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mary Gold of San Jose, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
