ObituaryAug 11, 1977Calgary, Alberta, Canada, HOUGHTON, HERBERT M. 71 died Tuesday, August 9, 1977 in Medford, Oregon. Services will be held Friday, August 12, at 2:00 P.M. in The Pearl Funeral Home in Medford.Oregon. Prior to retiring in Medford 1970 ' he was an instructor and taught at The Junior ond Senior High school in Calgary. Prior to becoming a school teacher he was a geophysicist for . more than 30 years. He was a graduate of M.l.T. He had published articles and books, "Change of Reflection Amplitude and Character with Geophone Depth" and "Geophysical Activity in Western Canada from 1946 to 1951" He was a member of The Canodaian Society ot Exploration Geoph-vsicists. His survivors include his wife Kathleen Houghton of Medford, Oregon; daughter Martha H. Francis, Bakersfi-eld, California and sister Barbara Mayers of Wyomissing, Penn; three grandchildren. Memorials may be made in his memory to the M.l.T. Scholarship Fund, co M.l.T., Cambridge, Mass

ResearchData is from Charles Center Case, Jr., former dean, John Marshall Law School, Chicago, IL., and the rest from Mr. Herbert Moore Houghton. Center was the son of Chas. Center Case by Charlotte, Jennie's (Jemima's) sister. Rebecca md. Alvah Reynolds. Her son, Charles was a Henry Co. farmer, of "Greystone Acres," now owned and farmed by their son, Ward Reynolds.
Jemima was b. Nov. 30, 1838; md. (2), Thomas Farley. Their daug. Eunice, had her mother's first husband's body and her mother's removed to Rockford, Ill, without Houghton permission. Both Farley sisters Res. Rockford; many of Jemima's brothers and sisters resided in Blairstown, Iowa, and are still (1960) living.8
