John was a native of PA and moved to Butler Co. OH after the death of his first wife. He and Hezakiah were married by the same minister and with thee same ceremony. Joh and his first wife raised 7 children to maturity. There was no issue from his second marriage. He was a Revol. War soldier.

John was shot and killed along the road somewhere between Oskallosa and Xenia, Clay Co., IL, probably in Sanger Twp, no one being charged, supposedly by robbers. He and Sara had 15 children in Marion, Fayette, and Franklin Co. They lived where these 3 counties came together, Sara's parents lived in Marion Co. They moved to Clay Co., IL, after all the children were born, between 1870-1880.

DIES of PNEUMONIA

Mrs. Sarah M. Houghton, 48 years
old, of No. 55 Brook street, a well
known resident of the city of Bradf-
ord for. forty six years, died at her
home at 2:15 o'clock yesterday after-
noon following a weeks illness of
pneumonia. Mrs. Houghton came
to Bradford when a small girl of two
years.
Funeral services will be held at 9
o'clock Friday morning from St. Bern-
ard's church.
She is survived by her husband,
James Houghton, her mother , Mrs.
Felicia Bodine, two daughters, Mrs.
Charles Holtz, Shortsville, N. Y; Miss
Grace Houghton. Bradford; two sons,
Frank M. Houghton, Custer City, and
Perry G. Houghton, Bradford, and
two sisters, Mrs. George Hemphill,
Bradford, and Miss Irene Bodine,
(Sister Mary David) Convent of St,
Mary of the Woods in Indiana.
She was secretary of the W. C. T. U.
Interment in Oak Hill cemetery.
