BiographyNancy Ladd: Leonard was considered a wild and reckless young man, was married in his youth, but spent most of his time as a single man having fun. Harry owned the first private airplane in Oklahoma City, and Leonard could frequently be seen in it, buzzing the buildings. I read an autobiography the other day written by some local woman in Oklahoma City in which she mentioned "that crazy Leonard several times". A short while after the divorce Leonard had gone to a hospital for a physical as he had not been feeling well and while there, he suffered a heart attack. Harry B. Houghton was in Europe at the time and authorities notified him of Leonard's death in Italy.

ResearchRussell: In early 1960-1961 era in Oklahoma City, a teenager by the name of Leonard Houghton
shot and killed a teen age girl, whom he had doing dishes in his home. There were two other teen age girls present and three other teen age boys. The victim was washing dishes for him and he was reportedly
playing with a pistol when the gun went off, striking her in the back of the head. Leonard went in the
ambulance with the girl as she was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced Dead On
Arrival. Murder charges were filed on Leonard Houghton, the other teen's was placed in the Berry Home
(a child's detention home) the oldest teen boy being booked into jail as a material witness.
I believe this Leonard Houghton was the grandson of Harry B. Houghton, and son of the elder Leonard
Houghton, that was deceased.7
