Obituary

Funeral services for Gail Houghton Pinkerton, age 84, of Troup are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Mike Harper and David Adams officiating. Interment will follow in New Emmaus Cemetery.
Mrs. Pinkerton went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Tyler.
Gail was born in Rusk County on April 3, 1929, to Clyde Burks and Sudie Mae Patrick. After 30 years of teaching, she retired from New Summerfield I.S.D. Mrs. Pinkerton was a member of New Emmaus Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Troy Houghton; second husband, Billy Pinkerton; grandsons, Troy Lee Houghton and Eric Kimmey; brother, Robert Burks; son-in-law, Jay Kimmey; and daughter-in-law, Jean Houghton.
Survivors include her son, Joe Houghton Sr., of New Emmaus; daughters, Lynda Houghton, of Kilgore, Denna Sue Foster, of New Emmaus, Gayla Willis, of Palestine, Paulette Campbell, of New Emmaus; stepdaughters, Pam Bowen, of Conroe, Vickey Sanders, of Turnertown, Paula Kimmey, of Tyler; brothers, Robert Burks, of Dallas, James Paul Burks, of Henderson; sisters, Joy Cariker, of Carthage, Laverne Cooper, of Tyler, Betty Penney, of Henderson, Jane Harrelson, of Tyler, Freida Bennett, of Garland; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Max McCormack, Royce Wallace, Michael Joe Parsley, Doug Clark, Casey Davis, Ward McCown, Ryan Weaver and Daniel Ebanez. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Memorials may be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Dr., Tyler, 75701.
