John W. Houghton, a resident of Oiean for the Jast forty-four years, passed away at his home, 212 South Clinton Street. Wednesday evening. Death followed a long illness
Mr. Houghton, who was seventy years of age, was a retired employee of the Post Office Department, having served for thirty- seven years in the local office.
He was a member of Olean Council, No. 338. the Knights of Columbus. Third Order of St. Francis, Holy Name Society of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the Macabees.
Surviving Mr. Houghton, are two sons. Joseph and John Houghton. of New York City: four daughters, Miss Gertrude Houghton, at home. Mrs. Loretta Edel, this city: and Mrs. Bessie McNally and Mrs. Eleanor Gilbert of Buffalo; also six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at nine o’clock at St. Mary of the Angels' Church where a solemn requiem mass will be sung. Burial will be in St. Bona- venture Cemetery.

Bessie D. Houghton, 91, of 4 Foote St. died Thursday at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Houghton was a life resident of Auburn. She was the widow of Ralph W. Houghton.

Mrs. Houghton was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Auburn and was a member of its Golden Rule and Women's Associations.

Surviving are three daughters, Alice O'Grady and Janet Sommerville, both of Auburn, and Dorothy Rugar of Geneva; a son, Donald W. of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serviceswill be 11 a.m. Monday in the Langham Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol McCartney officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 91 E. Genesee St.

Contributions may be made to the Calvary Presbyterian Church memorial fund.

Mrs. Santa Winters Houghton, widow of Warren B. Houghton of 45 1/2 Cayuga St., died early today after several months illness.

Born in Aurora she had resided in Auburn 62 years. Mrs. Houghton attended Calvary Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Women's Benefit Association.

Surviving are a son, Henry J. Houghton, and a grandson, Warren A. Houghton of Auburn.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the Langham Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward J. Simpson, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.

Henry J. Houghton, son, named executor, is to receive the residue of the estate.

ObituaryMar 1, 1951Mrs. Laura Coulson Houghton, wife of LeRoy L. Houghton of Aurora, died suddenly at her home Monday afternoon a short time after she had returned from a physician's office.
Born in Scipio, she had lived in Aurora for 25 years. She was a member of the Sherwood Grange and a member of the former Scipio Center Universalist Church. She had of late years attended the First Universalist Church in Auburn.
Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Mrs. Frank Bowman of King Ferry; one sister, Mrs. Stephen Weeks of Skaneateles; one brother, Earl B. Coulson of Auburn; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Lester E. Brew funeral chapel. The Rev. Fenwick H. Wheeler of the First Universalist Church officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville.
