BurialRock Creek Cemetery, Logansport, Cass Co., IN, USA1
ObituaryThe telephone served as a messenger of death Thursday morning to summon relatives when Mrs. Adah B. HOUGHTON, 38, suffered a fatal heart attack while alone in her home at 325 Cliff Drive. The well known local lady had been under the care of a physician. Evidently she had a premonition of death for when the mother in law, Mrs. John B. HOUGHTON, 4 Mildred Street, answered the telephone at 8:30 Thursday morning the gasping voice of her daughter in law weakly pleaded: "Get Dr. Barnett and come quick for I'm passing away."
The relative then heard the click as the telephone receiver in the Cliff Drive home went back in place. The mother in law and Mr. and Mrs. Earl BRIGGS, who also reside at the Mildred street address, hurried to the home. Opening the door they saw Mrs. Houghton, unconscious on the floor where she had evidently fallen as she turned around in an attempt to reach a nearby day bed.     Dr. Barnett was summoned immediately but death had taken place when he arrived. the victim having breathed her last before she could be removed from where she was found.     When the husband, Roscoe, who is employed at the Loganport state hospital, left home at 6 a.m. to go to his work, Mrs. Houghton made no complaint of illness. Evidently the attack came as she was engaged in doing her usual morning housework, relatives state.     Mrs. Houghton was well known as a saleslady in Logansport. however, she had retired from such employment several years ago.
Surviving are her husband, her father Morris BOATMAN of Kentland, Ind, a sister, Mrs. Florence DYE of Kentland, and four brothers, Clarence and Chester BOATMAN of Logansport, Ralph of Indpls and Roy BOATMAN of Cincinnati. (Logansport PT, Thurs 5 Dec 1935, Page One) Serv Sat 7 Dec, Chase Chapel, in charge of Christian Science church. Burial Rock Creek Cemetery.1
