John Cornelius Houghton

Resident of Gilroy
John Houghton, 81, residing in Gilroy, CA passed away on August 7th, 2015 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
John as a young man became a student of the sales process and spent a lifetime developing his knowledge in the field. He wrote and published a book "Closing the Sale" which was a culmination of his years of study, practice and experience.
John is survived by his son Gregory M. Houghton, his wife Valerie, and his two grandchildren Samantha and Dominic, his granddaughter (and adopted daughter) Natalie and her husband Ted McNair, and baby Emily McNair; He is also survived by his loving partner Barbara Drewitz and her daughters, Mary Ann, Robin and Shirley and their families and his sister Carol Leathers. John is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Jesse Houghton as well as his sister Patricia Gouveia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. For online condolences please go to www.HabingFamilyFuneralHome.com. The family would appreciate donations to St. Joseph's Family Center, Gilroy or a charity of their choice . John's wish was to be cremated and will be laid to rest at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.

Houghton, 69, of 1953 Bunting Drive, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest March 30, 2009, will be conducted Thursday in Pineview Memorial Park. Mr. Houghton was a native of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada having made the North Augusta- Belvedere area his home for the past 40 years. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Mims Houghton; a son, George Charles Houghton, Belvedere; two daughters, Julie Gresham and Cynthia McDaniel, both of North Augusta; five grandchildren, Alan, Rusty, Kristina, Jennifer and Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Aliea and Trey. The family will receive friends at the residence Thursday afternoon from 12:30 until 3.

Deborah Houghton Cartwright was born Aug. 28, 1946, at Bismarck, to Dr. John Thompson and Roberta (Patterson) Cartwright. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1965. Deborah worked in Minnesota for a dry cleaning establishment and was a receptionist. After moving back to Bismarck, she was employed with the State Highway Department as a file clerk.

Deborah is survived by her sister, Susan Cartwright Johnson, Las Vegas; her stepmother and her husband, Erna and Ed Lahr, Bismarck; three stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Lou Dachtler and Jennifer and Lon Romsaas, all of Bismarck, and Becky and Allan Cooper, Missoula, Mont; and her stepbrother and sister-in-law, David and Jan Martel, Washington.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents.
