Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Norbert M. “Marty” Posch, age 65, of St. Cloud who passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Thomas Knoblach and Reverend Gerald Mischke will officiate. Interment will take place at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Vigil Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Marty was born on December 30, 1945 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Norbert and JoAnne (Kellner) Posch. Throughout his life he was a salesman for Farrah and Banker Systems. Marty enjoyed time in his yard, playing cards, entertaining guests and traveling. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially cherished the time spent with the grandchildren.

Survivors include his long-time significant other, Shirley Houghton; step-mom, Doloris Posch of St. Cloud; brother and sisters, Suzanne (John) Grossman of Hastings, Peg (David) Waller of Lexington, MA. Barbara (Bruce Branigan) Posch-Branigan of Roseville, Brenadett (Jim) Crews Lexington VI, Mary Posch of Saukville, WI, Matthew (Lori) of St. Cloud, Monica (Hans) Lofgren of St. Paul, Karen Posch of Maple Grove; other family, Richard Houghton of St. Cloud, John (Maria) Houghton of Melrose, David (Marybeth) Houghton of San Antonio, TX, Michael (Shannan) Houghton of Sartell; grandchildren, Ben, Nolan, Lilly, Ana, and Rita; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.¹

Mark Lasnick: Lucy Ann Houghton who married Nelson Howard Howard Reed. These two are my grgrgrgrandparents

I have a family history written by a grgrandaughter, (Lucy Voiles I believe), of PW where it says that Gramp Houghton came from Canada (Scotch Descent). I don't believe though that the scotch descent part is accurate.¹

Contributn

I am a descendant of Phineas W Houghton who had children William, Lucy and Sally. This Phineas moved to and died in Hebron, Nebraska in 1901.
According to his Obit he was born in Battleboro, VT. Many in my family put him as married to Anna Burges in Bolton, MA, and have him as the son of Phineas Houghton and Polly Whitcomb. I think this research is wrong, and is based on the wrong Phineas--both of them. I found a marriage document in Nebraska for a second marriage of PW where he lists his parents as Phineas Houghton and Anna Wells. There was a Phineas Houghton on the 1790 census of Battleboro, VT who I think was married to Anna Wells and is the father of Phineas W Houghton. I think the Houghtons of Bolton, MA are not the same family--though the Phineas in Battleboro could at some point be related to the Houghtons in in Bolton, MA.

Any information that you could give me that could shed some light on my theory--right or wrong, would be appreciated.¹
