Note* | | Nathan Steward DuBois was my Step Grandfather who I was named after on August 28, 1935. Nathan was born and raised in Sharptown, New Jersey. He attended Pierce Business College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and became a Federal Bank Examiner a job from which he retired. When Nathan married Dr. Rachel Miriam Davis he turned to the Quaker Religion, but later left this Religion as he and his Wife separated and later divorced in January 1942. On August 31, 1942 Nathan married my grandmother Florence May 'Hanson' Willoughby. They resided at 32 Crafton Ave., Pitman, New Jersey. In 1946 Nathan gave to Bill and Ruth Willoughby the lot next to his home, namely 36 Crafton Ave, Pitman, New Jersey. A home was built and this is were I spent most of my boyhood years. I have many fond memories of my Step Grandfather Nathan as he taught me how to play the card games Rummy and Canasta. I traveled with he and my grandmother many time as a child to Sharptown, New Jersey to visit his family. doing the history of the DuBois Family has been a rewarding experience and has brought back many fond memories. In his memory I named my son Nathan Steward Willoughby Jr. Even though I was not his direct descendent I look upon Nathan Steward DuBois as my 'Grandfather' with love and admiration. Nathan is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Huffville, New Jersey along side my grandmother Florence May Hanson Willoughby DuBois. Written by Nathan Steward Willoughby this 10th day of April 1997.1 |
