Note*It seems very likely that Anne Hewit was closely related, perhaps a grandchild to Moses Hewitt, died 1759, married to Rebecca. Among Ann and William Howey's children were on names Moses and one names Rebecca Hewitt Howey. However, since Moses only had one son and heir, also named Moses, who chose a guardian in 1766 he could not have been a father Ann who was born c. 1756.

There were at least 2 men named Moses Hewitt as noted below. Which is the son of William is unclear.

There was a Moses Hewitt of Greenwich, Gloucester Co., who died intestate in 1759 (1759, Apr. 17. Inventory 121.14.9 pounds by Enoch Haines and John Holton. 1759, July 14. Bond of widow Rebecakah Hewett, as Adm'x; Joshua Hewitt fellowbondsman, both of said township. Lib. 9, p. 422

    I, William Howey of the Township of Deptford County of Gloucester and State of New Jersey being weak in body but of sound disposing mind & memory; and calling to mind the uncertainty of life, do this fifth day of the eleventh month in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two make and ordain this my last Will and Testament as follows, to wit

    1. I desire that my Executors herein after named pay all my just debts and funeral charges and that they may be enabled so to do, my Will is that they make sale to the best advantage they can for my whole Estate real and personal; The remainder or residue thereof to be disposed of in the manner as follows viz.

    2. To Ann my Wife I devise the whole of the residue or remainder of my Estate after my debts are paid, during her natural life, (?) at her decease my will is that what may then remain shall go to my children viz. Mary Ann Miller, Moses Howey, Abigail Ward, and Rebecca Hewitt Howey to be equally divided among them share and share alike.

    3. To my daughter Rebecca Hewitt Howey I give a Bed and Bedding equal in value as near as may be to those heretofore given to my children to be taken out of my Estate before any sale thereof is made.

    4. To my other children viz. Joseph Howey, Hope Huston, William Howey & Robert Howey, I give five Dollars each.

    5. And lastly I constitute my beloved Wife Ann, my son Moses Howey and William Ward Executors of this my last Will and Testament.

She was born in New Jersey on Sept 27, 1842 to Mary Wallen and James B. Bowen, also born in New Jersey. Frank Bowen of #4 Mt. Vernon St was the informant. Dr. was E.S. Garrison, Undertaker W. F. Garrison. Burial Aug. 12, 1928 at Broad St. Cemetery.
