Edward C. Webster, 67, of Deerfield Township and formerly of Commercial Township, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center.
Ed was born in Bridgeton on Nov. 28, 1942, to the late Holmes Webster and Drucilla Howey Webster Cheeseman and was the husband of Elsie Loatman Webster. He had lived in Deerfield Township for the past four years, and prior to that had resided in Florida for a 15-year period and Commercial Township previous to that.
Before his retirement, he had been employed as a captain with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department from 1982 to 1992. From 1966 to 1982, he served as a captain in charge of the Cumberland County Jail through the administration of five sheriffs. While living in Florida, he drove a truck for Salem Carriers. located in Daytona, and in his earlier years had driven for Bradway Trucking in Vineland.
He had also served with the New Jersey National Guard.
In addition to his wife Elsie, he is survived by a son, Edward C. Webster Jr., of Swedesboro; two sisters, Fanny Callaway, of Abington, Md., and Alice Taylor, of Lawrence Township; and his stepfather, Raymond Cheeseman, of Vineland. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Cheeseman and Thomas Webster; and a stepson, Leon Loatman.
Private graveside funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville, where interment will follow the services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Upper Deerfield Township.

Dorothy A. Loew, 63, of Hopewell Township, died at South Jersey Extended Care, Bridgeton, on Wednesday morning, Oct. 29. 2008. She had been in failing health for the past year and a half.
The wife of Charles H. Loew, she was born in Cedarville and was the daughter of the late John H. G. Woodlin, Jr. and Madeline E. Baker Woodlin. She had been a resident of Hopewell Township for the past 24 years and prior to that had lived in Cedarville.
Prior to her retirement she had been employed with Ven-Mar Manufacturing Co. in Millville and also with the former Mark Manufacturing Co. of Bridgeton.
Dorothy was a member of West Park United Methodist Church, the church choir, United Methodist Women and had been the chairperson of the health & welfare committee of the church.
A graduate of Bridgeton High School, Class of 1964, Mr. & Mrs. Loew would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in January of 2009.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry G. Woodlin.
Funeral services will be held in West Park United Methodist Church, 625 Shiloh Pike, Hopewell Township, on Friday morning, Oct. 31, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. James E. Loew, age 87, of Upper Deerfield Twp., died Tuesday evening, November 5, 2013 at his home under the care of Hospice with his family. He had been in declining health for the past two years. A lifetime Upper Deerfield Twp. resident, he was born to the late Frank Russell Loew and Louella Harris Loew on April 17, 1926 and was the husband of Edna Stout Loew. Mr. and Mrs. Loew had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past July. Before his retirement, Mr. Loew had been employed with the Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for over 45 years. A dedicated member of Upper Deerfield Fire Co, # 1, he had served for over 60 years and had been a former Chief of the Department and Secretary for many years.
In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by two sons, Robert F. Loew and George J. Loew both of Upper Deerfield Twp., 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, November 8th at 11 AM. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery. A lifetime Upper Deerfield Twp. resident, he was born to the late Frank Russell Loew and Louella Harris Loew on April 17, 1926 and was the husband of Edna Stout Loew. Mr. and Mrs. Loew had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past July.
Before his retirement, Mr. Loew had been employed with the Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for over 45 years. A dedicated member of Upper Deerfield Fire Co, # 1, he had served for over 60 years and had been a former Chief of the Department and Secretary for many years.
In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by two sons, Robert F. Loew and George J. Loew both of Upper Deerfield Twp., 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, November 8th at 11 AM. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Mr. Loew's memory be made to Upper Deerfield Fire Co. # 1, Deerfield Street, Deerfield, NJ 08313. James E. Loew, age 87, of Upper Deerfield Twp., died Tuesday evening, November 5, 2013 at his home under the care of Hospice with his family. He had been in declining health for the past two years.
