    JOEL R. VENABLE
    Joel R. Venable is deceased at the age of 71 years at his home, corner of Grant and North streets where he has resided for twenty-none years having rented that house of the late Capt. John Waller as the cellar was being dug. He was a familiar figure upon our streets, having driven a sprinkler wagon for twenty-five years and also having been road overseer in the Fifth ward for several years.
    He was a man of pleasing personality, of genial and jovial disposition always ready to help those who were in need. He was known to very many as "Uncle Joe" Venable.
    In his passing , the community losses[sic] a good neighbor and friend and his family a good husband and father.
    He was a faithful member of the First Methodist Protestant Church and was also a member of Bridgeton Home Lodge No. 62, Shepherds of Bethlehem.
    He leaves a wife and three children--Mrs. Harry Peterson, Mrs. Harry Woodlin and William Venable.
    The funeral takes place from his late residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment at Overlook.

    Funeral of William S. Venable, at Deerfield.
    William S. Venable, who died in his 90th year and who lived nearly all his life near Deerfield, was laid at rest yesterday morning.
    The service took place at 11 o'clock from his late residence near Deerfield and was very largely attended. The Rev. J. F. Lowden, assisted by the Rev. D. I. Camp, conducted the service.
    The interment was made at the Deerfield M. E. cemetery. The pallbearers were George Ansink, Jacob Ott, Edward Finley and Benjamin Davis. Funeral Director David H. Johnson was in charge.
