Still looking for a primary source... from Dar paper entitled John Webber by Augusta Petitt farmer "He was my maternal grandfather and lived to be 89 years of age and is buried in the Presbyterian burial yard in Salem and has the honor of having a flag put on his grave in Decoration Days because of his enlistment at the age of 23 in Capt Peter Louden's company of Detailed Malitia, stationed at Billingsport, Gloucester Co, NJ, Sept 27, 1814. He was a member of the Fife and Drum corp, he was a fifer. This particular musical instrument was in the posession of his son Joseph Webber until a few years ago. when his grand children must have destroyed or lost it. Henry never saw active service as he recieved his honorable discharge on Dec 21 the same year he enlisted as services no longer required due to the close of the War of 1812." ------------------------------------- 1908 Newspaper article? copied from the Penna Gazette written Feb 21, 1908 entitled Mannington Township; History of the farms and owners since 1860 "Well known local writer gives interesting facts and figures concerning persons and their homes since his boyhood days. But many joined who were yet younger and my standard in this by the before mentioned Mrs. Tolbert, says has heard her mother speak of his enlistment and going to the war. By some means or another her mother had John Webber's "queue" in her possession and whenever this curiosity was brought forth as it occasionally would be, it always brought with it many remininscences to be related by Mary (Webber) Paullin. One thing she told was that her father John died of a terrible fever, the same that is called typhoid now. John evidently became possessed of all or most of his father's farms in due course of time for it was there that he lived and died. * *He may have been there, but Thomas Webber died a year after his son, so I doubt there was a legal change of title. The deposition from 2056Q for Thomas Webber 1795, Intestate ( without a will) clearly indicates two properties, one in Mannington where Thomas lived, and another in Pennsneck, then occupied by David Paullin. vnc John Webber left his widow with two children: Henry Webber b. Sept 26, 1791 and Rebecca Webber b. March 12, 1794 who m. William Patterson ( Benj. inserted above, either as a middle initial or as son of? can't tell) . Had a dtr. Mary (Patterson _I assume vnc) who married David Flynn(?) she died and then her sister Margaret married him and mother her sisters children, whose names were John , Janette and Unis Mary and Annie, the last m. Jane and went ___? Mary m. T. Sparks and they have sone ___ and dt. Margaret who m. ___(left blank) . Harvey. Rebecca (Webber) Patterson's son Wm. married and left issue, one of whom is Benj. Patterson of Woodstown Moniter and Register (I believe this a reference to the Newspaper of that name) ; one son, Carl ---Rebecca Webber Pattrus d_ Sarah m. late in life Charles Padgett of Harrisonville - no issue.
