JANE'S WEBSITE

TIPS: things you need to know about the BARBOUR COLLECTION

A treasure trove of vital statistics for New England, including the Barbour Collection for the Middlesex County Towns (and other Counties as well) you see here can also be accessed by clicking on JANE DEVLIN's SITE with over 2,000 free databasesThis website has added other states, like NEW YORK, to its contents. It is expanding continually.
Another website with volumes of vital statistics is RAY BROWN's New England, featured in FAMILY TREE magazine two years running as one of the best websites for New England genealogy.

BOTH these WEBSITES have an incredible number of CEMETERIES transcribed, as well as Church Records, Land Records, Census, etc. They contain a lot more than just the Barbour Collection, and data from other New England States as well.

NOTE: Click on the Genealogical Gleaners Award Logo at the bottom of this page.....it contains Links to the best websites for FREE online genealogical information!

If you know of other online Barbour transcriptions, please email me at:

When you sign the GUESTBOOK, could you please add your email
address into the body of what you write, as anymore the
Guestbook I use doesn't allow it to be shown even if you should
type it in before you leave a comment.
It's frustrating to not be able to answer questions you leave
now that I can't access your email address.
Also, PLEASE do not click "Private message for webmaster only" or whatever that says; accessing a message that way is a huge pain in the neck for me. Thanks.

DANBURY

DANBURY is situated not far from the border with NY State, and many towns in Dutchess and Putnam counties are mentioned in these vital stats. They don't always have N.Y. with the name of the town (the way they do in the SHARON vital stats). You have to hunt them down by the name of the town, which makes it harder. They also have some very inventive ways of spelling Poughkeepsie, amongst others.

VOLUNTOWN,New London, CT
This link was broken, and it was also broken on the Voluntown genweb site. I Googled and found an old 'cached' copy of it (5 yrs old, the URL of which does not work by itself, so I copy/pasted the town's data and am in the process of reformatting it so that it's again accessible.

While you're patiently waiting for me to get it all reformatted, maybe this cached copy of the original will help:

Other CT towns, like Preston, are mentioned quite often. Also: R.I. shows up a lot. Canterbury is mentioned 100s of times some with and some without R.I. with it, so you have a choice of R.I. or Windham County, CT.
