During the war years, Elizabeth took the children home to her parents (no ref).

Frederick moved to Fergus Falls, Otter Tail county, Minnesota sometime before 1880. There he met and married Ella MAE who was born in Otter Tail county and died sometime before 1901 (ref. Pension of Children under 16) and is buried near Sand Springs, Tulsa county, Oklahoma. Frederick and Ella/Ellen had five children: a first child who died, Sampson, Lydia, Mattie, and Amanda. No records except 1880 Minnesota Census that lists Sampson as age 2 and Grant, age 14. This leads to the supposition that Elizabeth died and Grant came to live with his father but left Charlie and Bell with the parents of Elizabeth.
