COFFIELD, John
born in Ireland??
Raymond D. Coffield, Sr.John had five brothers one of the grandsons Joshua Coffield came to America sometime later
John Coffield, who was born in County Leitrim, Ireland, about 1757. He was one of five brothers who were famous for their physical powers, and had no equals in their native county for muscular strength. He was a man of massive frame, a splendid specimen of well-developed manhood. Mr. Coffield was married in Ireland, and had nine children. In 1798 he took passage on the ship "Happy Return," which was very filthy and carried all kinds of freight, but as he was a poor man the cheapest had to suffice. After the vessel was a few weeks out, drinking water became scarce, and before the voyage (which lasted three months) was ended, nearly one-third of the crew and some of the passengers died, three of Mr. Coffield's children being among the number. At last the terrible journey was ended, and the family landed at New Castle, Del., near which place they lived for a time, doing farm work, but the father soon after died, and the five children (Arthur, Lawrence, James, Ann and Elizabeth) were obliged to earn a living for themselves and their widowed mother, by working their way, the family finally reached Washington County, Penn., and first located near Washington borough, where they remained a short time, then came to East Finley township, and locating on the present farm of J. Wiley Patterson, the boys began to clear the land and make a home. The mother died in 1811. Don't know who the mother was.

CONNEL, John
of the 14th Regiment in Hobart (Tasmania)
Maureen (in Tasmania)M: Jane SELLERS in 1867
had three children
John transferred to the 2/18 and sailed for England in 1870. In 1873 he was discharged as unfit for duty (being almost totally blind). He returned to Tasmania in 1873.
Meanwhile Jane had begun to have children with Michael KAVENAGH, also from the Army and said to have deserted (no marriage ever found). They went on to have a large family from whom I am descended.
John CONNEL married twice more calling himself a widower!
John CONNEL was born c1837 in Ireland and died in Hobart in 1908. Michael KAVENAGH said to have been born in Co Wicklow c1835 and died in Hobart in 1913.
A paid researcher has said that John CONNEL was born in the Parish of Castlemanagh, near the town of Kanturk, Co Cork, (from his army record), no birth located.
The researcher says that Michael KAVENAGH was born to Patrick KAVENAGH and Rose NOWLAN of Hacketstown, Carlow, who also had children Mary, Thomas, Christopher, Bridget and Judith. I have no proof as yet of these statements. A family story says that Michael used to get letters from Ireland in lovely copperplate writing from either his sister Mary Kate or a Sister Mary Kater.

CONNOLLY the BrewerJohn D. ConnollyI am looking for information on "Connolly the Brewer" apparently the family lived in Dublin on Marrion Square most likely during the late 1700's through or to the middle 1800's. The Connolly the brewer is my Great Great Great Grandfather. I have a copy of a letter written by my Great Grandfather in 1888 talking about his father (John C. Connolly) and his mother (Anna Maria Jane Lehender) and then mentions his grand father in regard to a very extensive brewery company before Guinness existed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
