SAINT CATHALDUS' CHURCH

The ruins of Saint Cathaldus' Church, Shanrahan, Clogheen, County Tipperary. The graveyard surrounding the church is famous as the burial place of Father Nicholas Sheehy who was hung drawn and quartered in Clonmel on 15th March, 1766 for the murder of John Bridges. Father Sheehy was alleged to have been a leader of the White Boy movement and the murder charges against him are believed to have been given by perjured witnesses. The church has been derelict for more than a century.
