Message Boards
Introduction
Message Boards are good places to post queries about your ancestors and relatives, request a lookup from someone who has the necessary resources, or to announce new genealogical projects.
There are Message Boards for surnames, locations, computer programs, and various other subjects. For good advice on writing successful Message Board queries see the following articles from Ancestry Daily News:
- Message Board Postings That Never Get Answered
by George G. Morgan

Message Boards can be found at:
- RootsWeb and Ancestry
(These are actually the same boards, though they may appear slightly different, depending on which site they are viewed from.) Most of the Ancestry/RootsWeb Message Boards are administered by volunteers. Many of these boards are also "gatewayed" to the RootsWeb Mailing List of the same name, so all mailing list subscribers receive the messages by e-mail. - GenForum
