11th Tennessee Infantry
The 11th Regiment Tennessee Infantry was organized for State service 1 June 1861; transferred to the service of the Confederate States in August 1861, and re-organized in May 1862. It was temporarily consolidated with the 29th Regiment Tennessee Infantry and formed the 11th and 29th Regiment Tennessee Infantry (Consolidated) in latter part of 1864.
About 9 April 1865, the 11th, 12th, 13th, 29th, 47th, 50th, 51st, 52nd, and 154th Regiments Tennessee Infantry were consolidated and formed the 2nd Consolidated Regiment Tennessee Infantry, which was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina, 2 May 1865.
- James H. Barnes -- born about 1842, son of Larry S. Barnes and Obedience Matilda Batts, grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams.
Private, Company F. Enlisted 18 May 1861 at Cedar Hill, Tennessee. Killed in the Battle of
Franklin, Tennessee, 30 November 1864, age 22. Buried in the Confederate
Cemetery at Franklin, Tennessee section 59, grave 115.
- John T. Barnes -- born about 1846, son of Larry S. Barnes and Obedience Matilda Batts, grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams.
Private, Company F. Enlisted 25 July 1863 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- Benjamin F. Batts -- born about 1841, son of Benjamin B. Batts and Susannah Cobb, grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams.

- Jeremiah Batts -- born 22 November 1840, son of Jeremiah Batts and Mary Ann Byrns, grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams.
Enlisted in Company F, 21 May 1861, at Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee.
Elected 3rd Sergeant at the organization. Promoted to 1st
Sergeant by July 1862. Promoted to Brevet 2nd Lieutenant by January 1864.
Promoted to Captain of Company F, 10 September 1864. Mortally wounded at the Battle of Franklin, 30 November 1864. Died 9 December 1864. Buried Batts Cemetery, Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee.
- John Thomas Batts -- born 27 April 1832 Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee, son of Jeremiah Batts and Mary Ann Byrns grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams.
Private, Company F. Enlisted 18 May 1861 at Cedar Hill, Tennessee. On sick furlough September through
December 1861. Detached as a hospital nurse at Hospital #1 at Knoxville,
Tennessee, 24 June 1862 through April 1863. On provost duty 25 August
1863. Slightly wounded just prior to 14 July 1864. Surrendered with the
Army of Tennessee as a member of Company F, 2nd Consolidated Tennessee
Infantry, 26 April 1865. Paroled 1 May 1865.
Died 20 January 1911 Christian County, Kentucky.
- Thomas Jefferson Batts -- born about 1846, son of William Williams Batts and Louisa Draughon, grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams. Private, Company F.
Enlisted 1 June 1863 at Shelbyville,
Tennessee. Wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia 19 September
1863. Sent to hospital at Newnan, Georgia. Surrendered with the Army of
Tennessee, 26 April 1865 at Greensboro, North Carolina as a member of
Company F, 2nd Consolidated Tennessee Infantry. Paroled 1 May 1865. He
was present at the 14 June 1904 reunion of the 11th Tennessee Infantry in
Nashville. Eventually moved to Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas. Buried in
the Evergreen Cemetery, Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas.
- William Riley Batts -- born about 1844, son of William Williams Batts and Louisa Draughon, grandson of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams. Private, Company F. Enlisted 4 February 1863
at Shelbyville, Tennessee. Drove wagons and hauled supplies in April, 1864.
Wounded in the left leg below the knee in the Battle of Chickamauga,
Georgia, 19 September 1863. Sent to hospital. Wounded in the Battle of
Franklin, Tennessee, 30 November 1864. Captured at Franklin, Tennessee,
17 December 1864. Received at the U. S. Military Prison at Louisville,
Kentucky, 2 January 1865. Forwarded to Camp Chase, Ohio. Died at Camp
Chase 28 January 1865. Buried at Camp Chase Cemetery, Row 25, Number 9,
Grave 932.
- Charles Byrns Darden --
Born March 4, 1842 in Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee. Son of Berry
Darden and Mahala Henrietta Byrns, grandson of James Byrns and Andromache Luter. Musician, Company F and Field & Staff Enlisted 18 May 1861 in Company F at Cedar Hill,
Tennessee. Appointed Regimental Musician (fifer) and transferred to Field &
Staff, 21 May 1862. Also assisted in caring for the wounded and assisted
in the hospital service. Present through February 1864. Died 1 October
1922. Pension Application No. S14956. Buried in the Bartlett Cemetery,
Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee.
- Thomas Berry Darden -- born 24 January 1838 in Robertson County, Tennessee, son of Berry Darden and Mahala Henrietta Byrns, grandson of James Byrns and Andromache Luter.
Private, Company F. Enlisted 18 May 1861 at Cedar Hill,
Tennessee. Detached as a prison guard to Knoxville, Tennessee, December
1861.
Died 30 November 1905. Buried Darden Cemetery, Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee.
- James Henry Long -- born 9 April 1828 in Tennessee, son of John Long and Margaret Johnson, married 14 Oct 1851 Sarah Farmer, daughter of Josiah Farmer and Sarah Batts,
granddaughter of Jeremiah Batts and Elizabeth Williams.
Private, Company F. Enlisted 4 December 1862 at Manchester, Tennessee. In late 1863, he sent a letter to his
wife giving her instructions on managing the farm and included a detailed
map indicating what to plant in each field. Present at lest through
February 1864. He died 18 Feb 1920.
- Leftrick Reynolds Powell -- born 25 May 1841 in Robertson County, Tennessee, son of Richard Powell and Elizabeth Bell, grandson of John Bell and Lucy Williams. 2nd Corporal, Company F.
Enlisted 18 May1861 at Cedar Hill, Tennessee. Elected
4th Corporal at the organization. Appointed 2nd Corporal by November 1862.
Wounded in the left arm in the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia 19 September
1863. Sent to hospital in Griffin, Georgia.
Killed 30 November 1864 at the Battle of Franklin. Buried Batts Cemetery, Cedar Hill, Robertson County, Tennessee.

- Rufus B. Corlew -- born 22 August 1843 in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, son of William Corlew and Elizabeth Pritchard. Died 23 March 1896 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Family tradition states that he served in the Civil War, but we have been unable to find any proof.
