1741 Will of John MOTTHERSHEAD

In the name of God Amen, I John Mothershead being sick and weak of body but of perfect sences and memory praised by Almighty God for it, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following hereby revoking all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made &c.

Imprimis. I commit my Sole into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be buryed by my Exetrs. hereafter named.

Item  I give unto my Daughter Ann QUESENBURY, one feather bed and bedstead, one iron pott (sic) and one iron pessel (sic).

Item  I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Mothershead, one feather bed and furniture.

Item  I give unto my Son Charles Mothershead, one Negroe girl named Moll and her increase to him and his heirs for ever. I leave unto my Loving Wife with a consideration of maintaining my three youngest Children all the remainder part of my Estate during her life if she remains a Widow &c. Then I give unto my two Sons, William and John two Negroes named Peter and Jenny to be equally divided between them and the remainder part of my Estate to be equally divided amongst my three Sons and two Daughters Sarah and Mary.

Lastly, I nominate and apoint (sic) my Loving Wife, my Son William and John CLAYTON, Exetrs. of my whole Estate.     --   John MOTHERSHEAD

Benjamin DODD   Gyles CARTER and Humphry POPE

At a Court held for the said County the 26th day of May 1741 This Last Will and Testament of John MOTHERSHEAD, deceased, was presented into Court by Ann, his relict. William MOTHERSHEAD his Son and John CLAYTON his Executors who made Oath thereto and being proved by the Oaths of Gyles CARTER and Humphry POPE, two of the witnesses thereto, is admitted to Record; And upon the motion of the said Executors and their performing what is usual in such cases, Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form.
