Brother Edgar N. "Dick" Vanhoose, 72, of Paintsville, died Sunday,
Jan. 25, at his residence.
  
Born Oct. 17, 1936, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late
Estill and Vonda Castle Vanhoose. He was a funeral director with
Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Johnson County Coroner 1969-1977, a
minister, and pastor of Salyersville Freewill Baptist Church, until
2000.
  
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Boyd Vanhoose of Paintsville; a
son, Michael Dean Vanhoose of Versailles; a daughter, Janet Ranae
Price of Minot, N.D.; a brother, Ernest Vanhoose of Denver; a sister,
Alice Jewell Stambaugh of Nippa; four grandchildren; a great-
grandchild; a step-grandchild; and a step-great-great-grandchild.
  
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, at Salyersville
Freewill Baptist Church, with James Kelly Caudill, Junior Womack, J.K.
Connelly, Floyd Arnett, and Richard Williams officiating.
  
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under
direction of Jones- Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
