Services were held March 23 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for
Asbury Ward, 74, of West Van Lear.
  
The son of the late General T. and Julia Booth Ward died March 21 in a
local hospital after suffering a long illness.
  
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Ward.
  
Immediate survivors include three daughters, Wilma Moore of Galloway,
Ohio, Marie Pelphrey in West Jefferson, Ohio and Iris Blair of West Van
Lear; a brother from Decata, Va., General Ward, and two sisters from
Louisa, Minnie Stacy and Rose Fairchilds.
  
The Rev. W. E. Davis officiated at the funeral and the Jones- Preston
Funeral Home took charge of burial afterward in the Highland Memorial
Park at Staffordsville.
