John V. “Blue” Ward Jr., 66, of Van Lear, died Monday, May 12, in Van Lear.
  
Born May 8, 1948, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late John Vernon
Sr., and Ruby Daniels Ward. He was a coal miner and U.S. Army veteran.
  
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Jean Smith Ward; a son, Mike Ward of
Paintsville; three brothers, Glen Eugene Ward and Garry Lee Ward, both of
Van Lear, and Clyde Ward of Willis, Mich.; a sister, Bonnie Marie Cuzman of
Waukegan, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 14, at Hager Hill Freewill Baptist
Church, with Ronnie Spriggs and Larry Smith officiating.
  
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of
Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
