HOWARD WILEY
1916-1971

Howard Wiley, 54, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away April 4 in a hospital
near his home. The former funeral home attendant and member of the
Christian Church was ill for nine days prior to his death.

He was born in Lackey to the late Merida (Bud) and Carrie Stapleton
Wiley.

Immediate survivors include his wife, Lillie Pelphrey Wiley; a son in
Paintsville, William Michael Wiley; four daughters, Francis Jarrell
of Toledo, Carrie Cinnamond of Pikeville, Mary Pack of Georgetown,
and Judy Wiley in Paintsville; three brothers, Lanceford Wiley of
Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Clarence Wiley of Ocala, Fla., and Ola Wiley from
Paintsville.

Also surviving are five sisters, Effie Copley of Van Lear, Dorothy
Mullins in Newport News, Va.; Piney Beadles of Maryland, Bessie
Adkins of Paintsville, and Madge Jennings in Phoenix, Ariz., and
three grandchildren.

Services were held April 7 in Paintsville’s First Christian Church,
with Jerry Ginnan presiding.

Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, with
the Preston Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Mike Wiley, Jr.; Freddy Barr, Jack Crigger, Jim
Williams, and David Lewis.
