Calvin Thomas Yates, 86, of Catlettsburg, formerly of Paintsville, died
Monday, Jan. 6, at Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing Home,
Ashland.
  
Born Feb. 3, 1927, at Rocklick, W.Va., he was the son of the late Samuel
and Bertha Blankenship Yates. He was a maintenance supervisor and U.S. Army
veteran.
  
He was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Monnie Marie Castle; a
sister, Georgia Deming Harmon; and a brother, Ravin Yates.
  
Survivors include his wife, Ruby C. Yates; a step-son, Jim King of Sitka;
two step-daughters, Irma Jean Higginbotham and Ruth White, both of
Catlettsburg; a brother, Jerry Yates of California; three sisters, Mary
Burns and Marsha Thompson, both of California, and Margaret Griffith of
Lexington; four step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 10, at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel,
with Daniel Castle officiating.
  
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under direction of
Paintsville Funeral Home, Paintsville.
