KENNETH LOWELL O'BRYAN
1939-2013
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, 1 p.m. at the Beechwall
United Baptist Church at Leander for Kenneth Lowell O’Bryan, 73, of Van
Lear, who passed away Tuesday, March 6, at the U. K. Medical Center in
Lexington.
Mr. O’Bryan was born June 19, 1939 in Johnson County, son of the late
Ervin Kenneth and Opal May O’Bryan. He was a retired administrator with
the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. He also was a Commissioner of
District 3, and an apple auctioneer for the Johnson County Apple
Festival.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Williams O’Bryan.
Surviving are five sons, Brad (Jennifer) O’Bryan of Van Lear, Gary
(Cammy) O’Bryan of Oil Springs, Greg (Jeanie) O’Bryan of Leander, Jeff
(Robin) O’Bryan of Lowmansville, and Jim (Teresa) O’Bryan of
Wittensville; one daughter, Kimberly (Jim) Peters of Irvin; four
brothers, Randall (Linda) O’Bryan of Hager Hill, Rick (Anita) O’Bryan of
Winchester, Robert (Lillian) O’Bryan of Leander and Roger (Diane) O’Bryan
of Denver; three sisters-in-law, Glenda O’Bryan of Lexington, and Susie
Edwards and Wanda Sublett, both of Paintsville; 11 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Elders James R. Blair, Jerry Colvin and
Douglas Ward, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at
Staffordsville.
